Answer:
There are two pull tabs on one side of the light. Pull these down and the whole cover will drop down on the hinges that will be on the other side. Twist the tube one quarter turn left or right and pull straight out. I recommend twisting and pulling on both ends of the tube. To replace a new tube push the tube stright in and twist one quarter turn to the right or left.

Answer:
I cant say how long ballast will last but if all the lights go out all at once then ballast is bad. I have had three different ballasts go out this way.

Answer:
There is no standard for knowing how long a ballast will last; the ballast manufacture would need to answer that question. Symptoms that the ballast is going out is if the bulbs quit working properly or at all.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great replacement for old troffer Home Depot did not have an LED troffer in stock so we purchased this replacement. Good light quality. Good decision to replace the entire fixture rather than replace just the ballast in the old troffer. August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not A Quality Product!!!! This product while being of better quality then the lowes brand is poorly crafted. The metal is thin, and the ballast is garbage... (also after some research the ballast isnt covered in manufacturers warranty.) I originally purchased 4 of these lights when i installed them later that day 2 were faulty and did not work. I exchanged them for two new units, installed them and all worked as expected. Jump ahead to it now being 19 days outside of the 90 day home depot return policy and two of the units ballast have once again failed. Save yourself the trouble and buy something else... Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by good light but don't use ship to home i have used and installed over 50 of these fixtures. the lights work well have seen mixed results on the ballasts. some have been working for years others last months. the last batch i had to get some from a home depot store and others were ordered on homedepot.com because the stores inventory was so far off. i would never buy these and have them shipped again. i had broken bulbs, broken lens covers, every fixture had bent corners, and you learn this when you are opening the box to install them. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good drop ceiling light I installed this light in my basement laundry room (drop ceiling), its very bright, was easy to install, light wieght, and a good price. Two issues are keeping me from giving it a 5 star: 1. No installation instructions, now its pretty straight forward but if you are someone who likes to read before you dive in dont expect to get any paperwork with it. 2. Sharp corners and really sharp lip inside the light cover....my dad handed the light up to me while i was on the ladder a cut himself pretty bad.... So wear gloves! September 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A standard light It is an average standard troffer light. Has electric ballast (which most new fluorescent lighting does these days.). Comes with fluorescent lamps, but I wish it didn't. Comes with cool white lamps, but I wanted daylight lamps. Had to replace all of the lamps and had to through out perfectly good brand new lamps. Would been better if it did not come with lamps, and sell at lower price instead. Built in pigtail wire is 18 AWG (which is same as internal wiring.). While this is good enough for 1 or 2 lights, when connecting multiple lights linked to each other, it is too small of gauge to handle all the loads. I had to cut out most of those wires and replace with 12 AWG wires (14 would been enough, but circuit was 20A, so ran in 12 AWG) except last ones. August 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice lamps Awesome. Was easy to install, and less expensive than buying a new ballast and bulbs. September 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Okay The lights were not to hard to install, but three had broken lights and covers and had to be returned. September 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great light and great value ! The lights are lighter in weight (which is a good thing) than the older fluorescent fixtures it replaced. Wiring it in was very easy, as long as you have some knowledge about electrical work. It is not a plug in product, you have to hardwire it in to an electrical box. The lights come on instantly and are a very bright white light. A couple of the light tubes took a short while to obtain a full white color when I initially turned it on for the first time. But it has not been a problem since. April 28, 2015
