Customer Questions & Answers

t5 bulbs

do the t5 bulbs fit into a regular florescent fixture?
Asked by: Anonymous
The bulbs are very narrow and the prongs seem to be much closer than a regular bulb, so I doubt they will fit.

Can these lights be mounted in a shop where there is a roof, but the shop is open on one end?

Asked by: F911
Assuming they will be mounted in a location they will not get wet, you should be fine.

Does this grow light use as reading light or daylight?

This is grow light, but I buy this and use as reading. Does this light use for my son reading book OK? I do not want this Grow Light to hurt my son eye.
Asked by: David
It emits frequencies equivalent to a bright summer day - not certain if that will hurt your son's eye. But you must realize that this is a much more expensive light than just a plain reading light. Even if you go florescent. Please look at the shop lights available, I think you'll find that there are much better and cheaper alternatives available. This is what I found on the web hope it helps: The most common bulbs sold are ones with the color temperature of 6,500 Kelvins, because usually these types of bulbs come with T5 fixtures and have the biggest selection among different manufacturers. Sometimes there are 6,400 Kelvin or even 6,505 Kelvin bulbs that are essentially the same thing, because all these bulbs will emit light that is similar to the light that we see during daylight hours, it is called a daylight white light and it has blue tinge to it. In fact any bulbs that have the color temperature of 5,000 Kelvins and up will emit daylight white light, it only will slightly differ how cool or blue the light will be. This type of light is best and most useful for plants that are growing or in their vegetative stages of their growth, because the light is similar to light that they would get if they would grow outside during daylight hours. Also this light is good for seedling and cloning of the plants because of the same daylight reason.

what is the location that states “hood width” of 10 inches mean?

Asked by: db1433
That is the total depth of the light, Width is 4 feet, depth is 10 inches. The bulbs themselves aren't that wide but the metal housing of the light is 10 inches

Bought this thinking I could use my own T5 bulbs (54W/each) but upon further reading, it appears that the fixture can only support 28W watt bulbs. for the price, you'd think they would of used a 54W ballast/bulbs as 28W is not enough for larger more mature plants. this fixture is good for starting off plants/seedlings when they are young, that's about it. returning for a different brand with higher output for a few dollars more.

Good reliable product, with the exception of the clear defuser panel that is supposed to cover and protect the bulb. It is extremely thin and fragile. I cracked mine immediately and did the same to a previous unit I bought. It is not an integral piece of the unit and maybe on the third one I will be extra careful. Shouldn't be that fragile.

The lenses are HORRIBLE! the last three that I bought have had broken lenses. 2 from mail order and one from the store. Customer service at the manufacturer is NO HELP AT ALL. They will not even sell spare lenses. This is poorly made, although they do work nicely.

Cheap material, I had to spread the pins where the bulbs plug in to get both to work. I think this is the one priced at $49 but isn't in stock nor can it be ordered. I wouldn't buy again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value Easy to install and use, but removing the diffuser in order to remove the cardboard from the bulbs was difficult, and I cracked it. Product could definitely use better illustration/photo here or better yet, another type of attachment. Great to find the chains for hanging included in package!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent features though a bit tricky to install Excellent value and well made. The ability to piggy back is VERY helpful in the hothouse. The light covers are tricky to remove and install, otherwise this is an excellent product. My plants are thriving this winter!
