We had 5 of these lights installed by an electrician in our kitchen, and I am thrilled with them. In fact, I'm ordering 4 more today for our living room. Installed on dimmers, they brighten the room evenly, our kitchen is 11x 14 and now I don't need undercabinet lighting since the light quality is so good. Installed these over and slightly overlapping counter edges in work areas I knew I needed and on other corners in our kitchen. No shadows on cabinets, just gorgeous, clear daylight quality lighting. No ugly hole like sometimes you see with smaller bulbs, these are integrated, the bulb is under a transparent film. I highly recommend if you haven't tried LED, these energy efficient kits are what you want and worth the money!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hoffwoman the Led and 5 inch size is perfect for my kitchen but with 7 fixtures in an 8x12 kitchen I needed a dimmer recommended .
Much to my dismay one fixture sooo far failed and I hope the others are not defective. Otherwise I am very pleased with the amount of light emmitted....they do need a dimmer to give them a little warmth and tone down the brightness. I called Lithonia and the dimmer suggestions are on the box. My local Home depot had one for 600 watt incandescent and it works!! I wish they carried the 5 inch LED recessed fixture in the Woodland Ca. store!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nick Good value package that looks very professional on installation
The package of the shell and light unit represents very good value; the unit is easy to install - be careful not to cut the hole oversize - the light unit is a sealed package - one was slightly bent, but easy to straighten out. When the unit is assembled it provides a good spread of bright light - much better than the original light fixture we replaced with three of these units.

Pros: Good price and looks... Cons: Cannot dim completely and the slight delay when turning them on.
The lights are great. They brought office and family room to life.... 3000K will suffice for most applications.
Recommendation: Buy. Do not forget to add the installation cost if not a DIY. Worth the time and effort to have a professional do the job.

Easy to install and good looking trims. The retainer clips can accomodate up to one inch of dry wall - I had two 1/2" layers and they were easy to install. Very bright - I installed 12 in a 28 x 14 foot family room. I installed a dimmer and the result were excellent.

I installed three of these in my kitchen to replace existing incandescent in-ceiling fixtures. They are very easy to install. They are fully dimmable and provide excellent light. Best of all they use only 9 watts each! They replaced old lights that used 125 watts. I highly recommend them.

I installed these lights over a kitchen counter - replacing traditional incandescent models. The LEDs are much brighter and use less power. The light is also very white, which I prefer over a work space.

Installed 12 of these in my house remodel. They are installed on a dimmer (make sure you get the correct dimmer, the kind that is LED compatible). Out of the 12 lights installed 8 have failed - from not lighting at all after a while to lighting at different brightness levels. They have failed when the dimmer was all the way up to all the way down. These lights were professionally installed.
The pro of these lights is that they do look good when they work. Also, I assume if they continue working the cost of lighting will go down. The bad part is that over 50% of them fail. Even after we replaced the ones that had gone bad, others went bad after that so they too were replaced. I don't know if it has something to do with them being on a dimmer. They work fine without a dimmer. They are very bright and do need to be on a dimmer. I am using the correct dimmer on these lights so I don't know what the problem is. The living room lights have been working now for 3 weeks without a problem so I hope they remain that way. After replacing 2 lights in the kitchen twice, two went out again yesterday. I bought two more today and put them in and took the others back. Have my fingers crossed.
If I had to, I would not have put the LED highhats and gone with the older ones with a bulb. At least they work like they are supposed to on a dimmer.
If you are going to use these on a dimmer, save the boxes for a few weeks in case you want to switch to highhats using a regular bulb. I wish I had. The technology for these to be used on a dimmer is just not there yet.
