Answer:
Most bulbs of this variety are rated for "up to" 10,000hrs of use. In most cases this is not a warranty.

Answer:
Modified? A fixture should only use the maximum bulb wattage it is rated for and should not be modified otherwise.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 60 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Short lived This $15.00 bulb only lasted a month. Very disappointing. October 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fluorescent bulbs Easy to find online. Replacement was a perfect match. October 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 55-WATT T6 2C FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULB Happy buyer We have had this ceiling light in our dining room for ten years. The light bulb failed after ten years of usage. We were glad that we were able to order a replacement bulb from Home Depot. It's a little expensive at $15 but much better than having to purchase a new light fixture. The new light bulb seems to be brighter than the old one. September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice transaction Very fast shipment .Fast . Packaged well. Bulbs worked fine. September 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Purchase, Poor Quality, Short Life Hours I am not happy with this product. The bulb burned out in less than two years. Looking at the life hours it shows 10,000 hours, which is only 420 days. I do understand that a light should not be on twenty four hours a day. Which it was not. But a fluorescent should last at least five years. I will change to a fixture and bulb that has a longer life span. Not worth the money or the time and trouble. Sorry. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good purchase Very good product. Easy to install in my light fixture and very long lasting. Good service from Home Depot shipping the product to me, very prompt. July 13, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unhappy Camper The light fixture in our kitchen uses this bulb. Home Depot Online is the only place that stocks this item. The bulb we bought two years ago died. The replacement works, but it is not as bright as before. It flickers on occasion. When this bulb dies we will replace the fixture entirely. It is too much of a headache. June 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not the same as original It works fine, but it seems dimmer and the color is a yellow soft white instead of the bright daylight of the original bulb. June 11, 2016
