Had them professionally installed to replace similar size fluorescent fixtures that I disliked for the usual reasons. These led lights perform very well and provide plenty of bright light for the area I needed them in. You do notice that there is a slight delay, maybe .5 to 1 sec. before they come on after flipping the switch. But unlike the fluorescents , they come on at full brightness with no annoying flickering.

While it is nice and bright, the cover keeps slipping off the corners. We have had it about a month, and have had to readjust the cover several times. Wish the cover looked more snug to the ceiling also. The dimming feature is nice.

I am doing a complete kitchen remodel and needed a general light that is Title 24 compliant and had a minimum of 3,080 lumens. If you are wondering how did I know how many lumens I needed, please see my explanation below. My kitchen needed between 3,080 to 6,160 lumens for a general light. I bought this light even though I had two concerns. First, it only had 3100 lumens of light; and second, I thought it might loook bad next two my two other lights that were brushed nickel and chrome (Kitchen sink pendent - Hampton Bay model 17231 and my island track (task) light -Globe electric model 59107). Well the good news is it worked out perfectly. Even though the light only has 3100 lumens, it lights up my entire 154 sq ft kitchen even though it is not centered in the room. Since there is no trim on this light, it blends into the ceiling even if you have off white ceilings. Finally, the light is a cool bright light. To figure out how many lumens you need, there is a simple calculation that you do based on the room type and the use of the light. Different sites have different 'foot candles' needed for each room, but I use 10-20 foot candles for bedrooms, living rooms family rooms, etc.; 70-80 foot candles for Kitchen task lighting and bathrooms, and 20-40 for general kitchen lighting and dining room. A lumen is a unit of measurement of light. A lumen is a way of measuring how much light gets to what you want to light. To determine the needed lumens, you will need to multiply your room square footage by your room foot-candle requirement. For example, a 100 square foot living room, which needs 10-20 foot-candles, will need 1,000-2,000 lumens. A 100 square foot dining room, which needs 30-40 foot-candles, will need 3,000-4,000 lumens. Once I learned and used this simple formula, my lighting was one thousand percent better - no more dark spots and always having the right amount of light for the task.

The colors of the room and desktop are brighter and the sharpness of focus of everything is now startling every time I sit down. Including the computer monitor, which is not washed out at all. The light is also comfortable on our eyes over long periods and the units are totally silent. The installation was easy and the metal backing for the light seems thicker and stiffer than other lights I've used. They also have pre-drilled holes for various stud placement. Great purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gotta wear shades... Pros: It's bright, easily out-lighting the 4-bulb unit it replaced. Lighting is even, despite being made of multiple LEDS. Looks more even than tube lighting. Much lighter than a tube light and thus easier to install on the ceiling. Cons: It's so bright I squint when I enter the kitchen, and it's not dimmable. Construction feels a bit flimsy - cover can fall off too easily. Installation required drilling additional holes - I expected more built-in mounting options without needing to drill. The starter unit got in the way as well - this could have been mounted to the side or the end to avoid blocking mounting space in the center - a design flaw.
