Answer:
I have the 13" unit and they are very well sealed. I assume this mini is very similar. The instructions show that the "outdoor" unit is the same but with the addition of a single circular gasket that seals between the top of the unit and the ceiling. (enclosing the center mounting hole and the wire grommet)
I bet a thick bead of silicone caulk in a circle could accomplish the same thing in a pinch.

I don't think it's rated for outdoors, but if it's enclosed (away from the elements), I don't see why not. Yes, it is definitely sealed. The cover covers the fixture completely. It puts out a lot of light too.

Answer:
I think so as the product label recommends usage on a moist or humid environment. I have installed it in my bathroom. The fixture has two seals. The diodes themselves are sealed inside a "glass" and no need for removal for installation and then there is a diffuser that twists on an off for fixture installation. Both seems to be well sealed, so it is safe to say okay for such outdoors application.

Answer:
The Versi Lite is not a sealed waterproof unit but does not have large holes through the mounting plate so insects could get in. If it is mounted tight to a ceiling so the top is not accessible, few insects could get into the lens. If the climate stays above freezing, these lamps would be very good in a walkway.

No, this product is not all weather or water proof.
You would be better off purchasing a LED bulb to replace the standard bulb if you are looking for a low heat/cost replacement.

The Versi Lite has open electronics inside it's lens. It could handle light occasional moisture but I can't recommend it for use in a shower area where humidity is high for an extended period. This is a totally different unit than an incandescent lamp that does not have exposed electronic components.

Answer:
If you have a "box" then yes.
This mount to a wiring box, with two screws.
It really depends on your wiring.
The other consideration is, you dont have a switch for the light you have now, so once you remove the "pull", you wont be able to turn it off without installing a switch.

The issue would be the switching here. If there is a switch at another location yes this could work. If the only convenience switching is the fixture itself then this would not be your best choice. There are new products like this being introduced all the time. In the meanwhile you might consider going to your local Home Depot store and substitute a high efficiency LED light bulb in place of the good old energy sucking incandescent. That would be a good start and in time as the trend continues towards LED lighting there is a very good chance that a pull chain version may be under the corporate magnifying glass somewhere. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great price & Quality I purchased this light for my other bathroom I updated, this light has a low profile and puts off great light, plus its LED. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of the best LED fixtures I have purchased Just to be clear I am reviewing Versi Lite White LED Mini Flushmount (4000K). It does not weigh anywhere near 10 # and the wiring is light gauge because its actual power need is quite low so a modest amount of care when installing to assure that nothing is being pinched as you tighten into electrical work box is always appropriate. I bought this for the laundry area. But when removing the original fixture I discovered it had 2 60 watt equivalent bulbs. I changed my mind and mounted it the other end of the passageway which fixture had only one 60 watt equivalent cfl bulb. Much to my surprise the difference in 60 watt equivalency was absolutely amazing. The light was so much brighter that it appeared as a SolaTube!! We love it and will buy another for the 2 60 watt equivalent bulb fixture in the laundry area (it really is that bright) . The applications seems almost endless!!!! Yeah for a great product, great price and easy install!! September 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great light for the price Bought 2 units. Installed in Bathroom. Easy ceiling installation onto existing hangers, good price. Good Color temperature. Check box before leaving store as one unit had the installation screws and wire nuts missing. Easy exchange at Home Depot as it was in stock. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by awesome item I am an electrical contractor. One of my customers found this light at Home Depot and asked to have them installed with a motion sensor under his garage eave.....I wish I were smart enough to know how to post the pics. The day after his install, I showed one of my regulars the pics of the final project. She bought 2. The first customer had a great idea doing this instead of the typical security flood light. It puts out plenty of light, hidden from sight during the day and LED....the only style light I offer unless requested otherwise. August 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great lights These lights are simple to mount and look great! I mounted these on a cathedral ceiling, they look great, and give lots of light September 7, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I hate changing light bulbs Why ease of installation so poor? Because I needed an electrician to do it. However, when this is done 45 years without changing a bulb---hurrah. August 16, 2016
