Customer Questions & Answers

Can you just buy the sensor for the lamps

Asked by: Anonymous
Unlike old style units, the sensor in all in one in the housing, so it would require a circuit replacement not as easy as the old style screw in the top photocel sensor. So in short, no.

I'm not interested in a light that has a photocell.

I want to operate this light via a conventional light switch as needed. Is that possible or am I at the mercy of the photocell?
Asked by: paul
Hello paul, The only way to over ride the photocell is to cover it with electrical tape. The light will then be on and you can control it with the switch. Thank you for your inquiry. Charlotte of the Home Depot Community.

Can I mount this light to an electrical box?

I need a light fixture like this one (replace a previous one that resembles this one) but it needs to be able to adapt to a box. Is there an adapter, or another model that would accommodate this type of installation?
Asked by: Arrowheaddan
This is an outdoor light that can mount to a wall or post. The only other mounting option possible is an arm (OMA 24).

Customer Reviews

Wall-Mount Outdoor White Fluorescent Area Light is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Attractive light, but might be defective. Keep the box! We bought three lights for the exterior of a two-story apartment building. The lights were supposed to operate from dusk to dawn. However, after about two weeks, one light stayed on continuously. Fortunately, we had kept the box and receipt, and returned the defective light for another one with no problem. Unfortunately, we had to pay our electrician for an extra visit to replace the defective light with a new one. The lights look great now and have all been working well ever since (the original installation happened about five months ago), but hold on to the receipt and box just in case.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice unit, good light output, fails to easily Replaced my driveway light of 15 years with this one, worried about the lower 65w bulb but gives bright light. Then the unit failed 2-3 weeks later. So HD replaced it. Easy enough to install, and thus swap out. Then it failed again 45-60 days later. Called Lithonia and told how to do a hard reset, worked (cut power, remove bulb for 1 minute, replace bulb, apply power, all during daylight hours for sensor to adjust). Now a year later, this one is dead. Is being replaced. As they say, "they don't make them like they used to". My original unit had maybe 3 bulbs and 2 photo cell replacements in 15 years. This one needs a new a design replacement on the circuits, because when it works, it's good light for my driveway, but when it fails, it's dead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good outdoor cfl light made better on closeout I guess they are phasing out the white colored lamps, I picked up a couple of these for about 30.00 each. Good standard CFL, def not the same light output as Sodium or Mercury bulbs....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lighting product Lightweight and easy to install. The output from the fluorescent lamp was much more than the old mercury vapor unit it replaced.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Update on my review below It turned out that the circuitry inside the fixture is faulty. Not able to handle the load of the 300W CFL bulb. Thats why they last only a couple of months, or the circuitry burns out (like mine) immediately.
