It does not contain a motion sensor, nor a dusk to dawn sensor. It is basic on and off, and continuously on when power is applied.

Answer:
Hi Mickey
This fixture does not include a motion sensor. If you want a light to go on a dusk and off at dawn then you will want a fixture with a photocell. Look for a dusk to dawn fixture.
A motion sensor turns on the light only when it detects motion.

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Best selection for the price range. We have used this product numerous times. For the money this is the best product we have been able to locate. There is an inherent problem with the product. The seal around the faceplate of the product leaks. This in turn damages the inside reflector (rust) and sometimes shorts the bulb. We have had to put gasket seal around the entire body of the product over the seal. If there was another product available for the money we would switch. Improvements are drastically needed. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Light Great light to have in back yard. Great for on your deck . April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great For Backyard Lighting I purchased 2 of these lights to illuminate my backyard pool area. They replaced the typical $4 "jelly jar" backyard light fixture provided by most builders. They are very well made from cast Aluminum with glass lenses that have weatherproof Stainless Steel clamps. No cheap plastic like the fixture I replaced. The wiring and installation is pretty straightforward, (white to white, and black to black). I was installing 2 of them on the same junction box, one on top of the other. With a screw in Aluminum plate that accepts the threads on this light's mounting stem. So it was a little clumsy until I got the wires connected, and the screws started. With my wife helping me it all went very smoothly, and only took a couple of minutes to complete the installation. These lights illuminate my entire back yard and pool without using a lot of power. They also provide good security when were are away. They solved my lighting problem without costing a fortune. For anyone who wants to illuminate a large area, these lights are the way to go. Replacement bulbs are readily available, and are not expensive. April 3, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ballast dead in about three months Beautiful light. Nice color. Lights up quickly even in cooler weather. Lights up the back yard very nicely (for about three months). The ballast in this product failed in about three months. My question asking about replacing the ballast appears to have been deleted, so I supposed you can't replace the ballast. It looks like you must replace the entire fixture. August 20, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Waste your Money I bought 2 in the last week, installed one at a time. Next day it stopped working. I got upset with Electrician. Paid him for extra hour, then realized light is no good, Not recomended, dont waste your money. October 9, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst purchase very very dim lighting not what was stated in instructions June 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Met my needs perfectly A few years ago I bought and installed two expensive Metal Halide outdoor light fixtures. Over the next year both developed problems that the manufacturer could not resolve. I replaced both with this Lithonia flourescent fixture each of which provides about 400 sf of soft illumination. They're far less expensive than Metal Halide and High-Pressure Sodium fixtures and flourescent bulb replacement is much less costly as well. But after three years of dusk to dawn light, the original bulbs are still working. I'm exceptionally pleased with this fixture. August 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good amount of light The fluorescent bulb comes on instanly but does take a few seconds to come up to full power. But over all light for the amount of wattage is good. December 10, 2014
