It should, it's one of the smallest size pumps out there and has three optional ports to connect to.

How long is the supplied tube and is there a max distance/elevation it can pump?

I would estimate that I need about 40 feet of tube and 5 feet of elevation for this to eject to a drain. Does this have the power to do so?

This unit comes with 20’ of 3/8” vinyl tube. The pump curve indicates that this unit will pump roughly 45 gallons per hour at 5’ of head. The distance will only diminish that slightly as you are not fighting gravity when you go horizontal but only vertical. As I don’t know how much condensate you are producing I can’t tell you definitively that this is the correct unit. But so long as it is not over say Read More

How does the nextgen compare to the older model 554401? Are there any differrences other than the safety switch?

Answer:
I personally use the nextgen because of the higher quality of plastic not because of the safety switch. I efficiency gas equipment produces condensate as a byproduct of combustion. This condensate is very acidic. It can eventually break down plastic. So the nextgen was developed to be more resistant to breakdown. That is why I use it.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value pump with good features. I decided to buy this pump after I found the condensate from our A/C unit coming up from under the floor slab. I cut the drain pipe and directed it to a bucket for a while. An HVAC technician came out and looked at it. He recommended putting a condensate pump in which he would be happy to do for a few hundred dollars. I thought that was a great idea and knew I could do it myself. I looked around at various HVAC suppliers, but finally found this one on HomeDepot.com for a way better price. I found this pump to be a great value and I liked the features it came with, especially the high level switch. The pump is of all plastic construction, however it seems to be high quality. It pumps out all the water in just a couple of seconds, which I found surprising the first time I saw it run. It comes with a mounting bracket so you can mount it directly to the side of your air handling unit. Unfortunately, the pump didn't mount completely tight and it can move around a little while resting in the bracket. I don't think it will cause any problems though. You have to purchase some 3/8 I.D. tubing to run from the discharge fitting of the pump to a suitable drain. I went to the washing machine drain pipe. The feature I like the most is the HIgh Level Switch. It is a SPDT switch that can be used to shut down the air conditioning all together and/or sound an alarm. I wired it up to do both and it works awesome! I would recommend this pump to anyone. November 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Replaced old pump on furnace humidifier I cracked my old VCMA-15UL tank cleaning the basement. I ended up with this model as I couldn't locate another VCMA-15UL at the three local Home Depots in my area and needed a replacement right away. This pump does the job just as the less expensive old pump did. The rubber feet are a nice feature as this pump now sits on the floor instead of being attached to the furnace which reduces some of the noise from the old 'attached' pump. Pump noise is the same as the VCMA. A disadvantage for me is the smaller tank. When the humidifier on my furnace is active, this pump cycles on & off constantly due to the smaller tank capacity. This might not be an issue for AC condensate. I rewired the emergency shutoff switch from the furnace shutdown to the water solenoid. My drain is 7 feet up, then 15 feet across the basement ceiling. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lil giant condensate pump Great pump. Quiet. Easy installation. Great instructions. Safety high level switch an essential requirement. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Piece of cake! Hard to say what I liked best about this product. In addition to the positives noted above, the manufacturer tech support was outstanding! They anticipated the homeowner installer, and were available every step of the way for me! I had to alter the product slightly in order to install in my crawl space using the drains as configured. I had to remove the safety switch, because I needed that drain port. I then placed a moisture sensor on the crawl space floor so that I would be alerted in the event of an overflow. They helped me figure out how to do all of this, and get the furnace up and running again. Really great support, they never once talked down to me because I wasn't a professional. Running real smooth for over a month now. No problems! January 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pump works well The Nextgen Pump was an easy installation. Upgraded features: This pump has a manual test switch and a check valve. This pump works well. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This a good pump to buy I was just going to replace my condensate pump with the same brand and model that but I figured I would started to read the reviews of condensate pumps and decided it would be best if I tried a brand with better reviews. Thank goodness for those reviews! I purchased the Little Giant and so far couldn't be happier. I was able to use the plumbing from the old setup. And with the rubber legs I was able to just set it on our crawl space floor next to the furnace. Couldn't have been easier. It is very quiet and has no vibration. I own this pump for almost two months and is going great. No cons July 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Product I am happy with how smoothly the unit runs. It either moves the water very quickly, or it's control setpoints are closely spaced, or both. It cycles on-off more often than the one it replaced, with an on duration of about 6 seconds. This may be easy to fix, but I don't consider it broken. I expected I could just attach 1/2 inch pex tubing and this was a mistake. I had to wrap the discharge nipple with electrical tape as a temporary bodge. Don't buy new discharge tubing until you have the unit. Just pull the check valve with the nipple on it and take it to the home center to get the right size tubing. I expect it will last at least a year, and that will confirm it was a good buy. The photos show the unit in the box I made to muffle its noise. I used a 2-inch thick piece of foamboard insulation and quite a bit of duct tape. I'll make a plywood box to wrap it with heavy material and I expect it will be nearly silent. February 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised I ordered this pump partly based on reviews and it seemed like a good quality pump. The overflow switch can be wired into most modern furnace/AC control boards. This is a nice feature, especially if you are away from home with the AC on. Pump is quiet and has no issue pumping condensate vertically 6 feet and horizontally 20 feet into a deep sink (We has no nearby floor drains). Overall a great product at a great price.
