Answer:
Hi, Kevin. It has 2 slots for mounting to the side of the A/C air handler or nearby wall, but it can also sit on the floor. (It just needs to be lower than the condensate pan. since the water from the condensate pan drains by gravity in to the pump housing.)

Answer:
The unit sits freestanding in a pan next to the HVAC system that houses the condensing unit. It must be located to accommodate the drain pipe (usually a pvc pipe) from the unit that should already be installed. You will need to replace the old drain unit with a similar unit or change the drain piping.

Is this unit hard wired for the power, or does it just have a three prong plug to go into a standard outlet?

Good question, Joe. It comes with a 3 prong plug and could be plugged into a standard outlet. Mine was hard wired when the A/C was installed since there was no nearby outlet. (There is, of course, also a low voltage wire which does need to be hard wired in to your A/C unit. This provides the safety shut off of the A/C if the pump fails.)

this pump works with a built in resevoir. unless yi]ou can channel the water into the resevoir, I doubt it would work in your application. You need a sump pump, not a condensate pump.

This pump is not designed for that application. You need a different style of pump. Talk to an expert at Home Depot, hopefully in the store. They should have this type of pump in stock.

No, unless water is at least 2 inches deep. This product works by sitting in a small 6" or so deep pan that collects water from the condenser in a HVAC unit in your home. It has a float connected to a switch and when the water in the pan gets 2 inches or so deep the float activates a switch that turns the pump on pumping the water through a plastic tube to a drain or outside. When the water reaches an acceptable level in the pan the float descends deactivating the switch and turning the pump off until the water reaches the high level again.
Sounds like you need two things. The basement walls need to be waterproofed some way and a dehumidifier should help with the dampness. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product Have two of these now removing condensate from 2 window AC units that exhaust inside a warehouse. Easy to install. No longer have to worry about overflowing buckets of water. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The right product for my home use This is truly a plug-n-play product...so easy to set up, anybody can do it. This only took me 5 minutes from opening the box to turning the pump on. It is replaced a different brand (hat lasted only two years) and has been running flawlessly with heavy usage for the past month. No issue yet...and don't expect any...as have always been pleased with Little GIANT products. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderfull response I was very please to recieve the product on a timely basis. I still need to get the correct size hose to complete. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Had this pump for 10 yrs. I bought a backup just to have if the old one plays out but it's still running strong. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little pump that works like a Giant Worth every cent! Easy to hook up and than forget about it. Would recommend this to all my friends. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent pump for the money This pump was installed to replace an existing condensate pump that failed on my HVAC unit. Great pump for the money. Relatively easy to install, and works great. Only issue I had was the existing pump was hard wired into the AC unit for power. Pump comes with a 3 prong grounded plug to plug into an outlet. Had to cut the plug off and hard wire in, but other than that, have had no problems whatsoever. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product The condensate pump was easy to install. And! Since it has a hollow plastic float, instead of a foam float like my pervious condensate pump had, I expect it to last for a very long time. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JUST WHAT I NEEDED The pump was just what I needed and was almost identical to the one I replaced. June 14, 2016
