Product Overview

Never feel nervous on a stepladder again. No matter how you set it up, the patent-pending Select Step provides a comfortable standing platform that offers heel-to-toe foot support at the top recommended step. And the AirDeck workstation with handrail (see product images) makes standing at the top of the Select Step feel as good as standing on solid ground. The heavy duty rated (Type IA - 300 lbs.) yet lightweight Select Step 6-10 is a 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 ft. stepladder all in one; and because both sides telescope independently, you can use it safely on stairs and uneven surfaces. Hanging pictures or changing that impossible light bulb above the stairwell will never be easier.

  • Comfortable standing platform at any height or configuration
  • Safe to use on staircases or uneven surfaces
  • Lightweight and easy to move from job to job
  • Wide-flared legs for superior balance and stability
  • Heel-to-toe foot support and safety handrail make it feel like solid ground
  • Complies with OSHA and ANSI standards
  • Type 1A duty rating; 300 lb. load capacity

Yes. The work platform is permanent design feature and air deck workstation is an attachment that has it's own "cradle" where it can be stored neatly in the ladder framework and is easily put into use with locking features.

Answer:
The top of the ladder, fully extended, is at 10ft. The nice foot platform is at 8ft. At 6' tall, this puts my head at 14ft above the ground. A comfortable reach above my head of 1ft would put my hand at 15ft. I hope you are not scared of heights because this feels incredibly high compared to a normal step ladder.

Answer:
The latter is 10 feet. The work station allows you to stand on the next to last step safely. A tall person could reach 15 or 16 feet. I only used it to 13 to 14 feet.

Answer:
The standard maximum reach for this ladder is 14'6". To determine this official measurement, we add the highest standing level (8'), an average operator height of 5'6" plus a 1' reach. If you are taller than 5'6", chances are your reach will be taller. Just remember to use the AirDeck safety handrail and please don't overreach. (see attached image)

Answer:
No, this ladder requires at least 5-6' of space with ladder open and I estimate about 3-4' in width. This is no small utility ladder.

My answer would be maybe, but not very likely. This baby has a big footprint, and you wouldn't want to compromise safety by not opening it fully.

The foot print on the Select Step 6-10 model will be too big for the area you are trying to place it in. I would recommend looking at Flip-N-Lite models.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Ladder Another senior person stated that it was a bit heavy for them, and it was so for me also, but then I was carting it up steps and not able to use the wheels to make it easier. It isn't so much the weight but a combination of weight and size. I don't like heights and my knees don't like ladders, but with this ladder and the airdeck handrail, I was able to clean the light fixture and replace bulbs in our bi-level stairwell and feel quite comfortable. I may never extend this ladder to its full height, but I will use it repeatedly as it is sturdy, strong, and the airdeck gives security and will hold all the stuff that I need to use while in place. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Proud new owner This is one of those items in the garage that every time you see it it makes you happy. It's not perfect, but it is pretty close. High quality construction, and does what it says it can do. I only wish every product I buy could deliver that. My current favorite use for it is for gaining access to my flat roof through an enclosed atrium/patio inside my house. It is like setting up a staircase to the roof! It is a little big and heavy, and this discourages my wife from using it, but a friend of hers came over while I was away and together they went to town hanging pictures all over, including over stairs and on high walls. I was very proud. August 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Select Step 6-10 ft. ladder is great! This ladder has the features I really like. The adjustable features allow me to get closer to a wall than a standard step ladder. It is so much beyond a standard step ladder and, it is a lot more stable too! I feel so much safer at the higher positions because of the broad base. Last month at the Oklahoma State Fair at the Little Giant Ladder Systems display, I ordered the "Fuel Tank" (vertical paint tray) which is a lot better than trying to balance or hang a regular bucket on the ladder. The Select Step ladder is a good addition to the 17ft. Little Giant articulating ladder I have used for about seven years. A great bunch of tools and accessories. October 30, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best thing ever! I rented one of these from HD to do some paint work along a side of the house that had stairs running down it. This thing worked like a champ. Shorten one side, lengthen the other, adjust the angle, BAM! You're working on uneven surfaces like it was nothing. Gotta get up to the second story eaves? Lock it out straight, extend, start climbing. It was a lifesaver. I would have needed scaffolding or to rig some seriously sketchy leg blocks under one side of an extension ladder to get the job done. I would recommend a Little Giant to anyone. December 19, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The VERY best ladder I had a smoke detector that decided the battery needed replaced after 8.5 years. It was located 14' from the floor on a vaulted ceiling in the middle of the room. Without this ladder, I would have paid an electrician the $266 or more to replace. I was able to replace all six smoke detectors myself and have a wonderful ladder as a bonus! Highly recommend. If I can do this as a 63 yr old female, you will also feel safe and secure no matter how high you have to go on this ladder. LOVE the AirDeck Workstation. January 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Incredible ladder - 10' max height is awesome I have a new home with very high ceiling and this ladder is a must-have and in the first month has paid for itself in handyman charges. I have used almost every feature including setting up on stairs with unequal extenstions. The extended platform adds great stability when working at the maximum height and standing at the top platform step. With this I can reach 16 easily. The 10' ladder is a bit heavy, but if you need the flexibility it offers it is a must-have. November 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ladder was perfect for this job The ladder was just what I needed so I could clean and paint the windows along my stairway. Someday soon I'll need to paint the two feet above the windows, but the ladder is too short. If only the ladder could be adjusted another two feet taller (12 feet instead of 10 feet tall)! Also, I would like to use a paint tray at the top of the ladder and there are no slits/holes in which to hook the tray feet. (There wasn't enough room to use the platform tray that came with the ladder.) January 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Built for the Job! This ladder is one of the best out there. It has more moves than a circus act and looks good along the way! Love the fact that I can go from 6' to 10' as I have a shop with 11' and 15' cielings and this ladder makes easy to only own one ladder in the shop. I wish it had a kickstand like a bike has so it would stand up without unfolding and the paint tray that doubles as a hand bar could be stronger at the attaching point for me! Other than that it's a winner! December 31, 2013
