Product Overview

Loctite Threadlocker Red 271 is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. Best for use on metal fasteners up to 1 in. (25 mm) in diameter such as bolts on decks, ready-to-assemble furniture, mounts, rings, gear bolts and frame bolts. Threadlockers cure when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces. Once cured, it helps protect threads from rust and corrosion, as well as prevents loosening from shock and vibration.

  • Prevents vibration loosening by permanently locking and sealing metal fasteners
  • Permanent formula is only removable by heating up parts to 500F
  • Moisture resistant, preventing leaking and rusting of threads
  • Set time of 10 minutes and cure time of 24 hours
  • Adds 3,000 PSI holding power on slip- and press-fit assemblies

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by so far so good I did not use it for its intended application. I needed it to anchor the solid end of a threaded stud which had pulled out of a friction fit connection (round hole). I think originally the stud had a flared bottom to keep it from pulling out, but that has worn away over the years. So far the threadlocker is holding, but I've only put modest tension onto the stud. Product gets 5 stars since nothing else I had tried would come close to holding when I put even the smallest tension on the stud. If it eventually fails I can't blame the product as it is not really what it is supposed to be used for. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by used this product on all bolts and nuts i haved used this product for years in in my job as a master tech for GM January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Threadlocker 271 My HAYWARD 1200C pool filter has a rod that screws in at the bottom of the unit and up the unit to a removable top hood. The rod became unscrewed at the bottom of the filter unit and as a result would not unscrew from the top hood. I emptied the filter of all water and let it dry out. Once dry, I poured the threadlocker liquid onto the threaded area at the bottom of the filter and then screwed the rod back in. After a day's wait, I closed up the filter housing and refilled it with pool water. It's been a couple of months, and thus far the Threadlocker has held the rod in place in spite of removing the top hood numerous times. There is a marine version of threadlocker that's more appropriately suited for underwater applications, but wasn't in-stock when I went looking. So far, so good. October 27, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nut locker for bolts Worked well, as always. Used it to lock bolts on specialized sliding shower seat. October 6, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works As Advertised I needed to remove a stuck compression tester extension from a spark plug chamber (don't ask!) and used Loctite Threadlocker Red on a long bolt, letting it sit overnight. Although initially the bolt came out without the extension attached, when I threaded the bolt back in tightly and then removed it, the extension came with it. This was probably an extreme test for the product. August 26, 2015
