Product Overview

Loctite Epoxy Plastic Bonder is an acrylic formula that is specially formulated to bond and repair plastic surfaces. The convenient double syringe dispenses equal amounts of each component every time. When mixed in equal volumes, the components react to produce a tough, rigid, high strength bond in 20 to 25 minutes. Loctite Epoxy Plastic Bonder does not shrink and is resistant to water, most common solvents and shop fluids. It has high impact resistance and can be sanded and drilled.

  • Repairs and bonds most plastic materials, including ABS, hard plastic, soft plastic, PVC and fiberglass
  • 2-part formula consists of resin and hardener
  • Permanent high bond strength
  • Dual syringe allows a precise mixture in every application
  • Resistant to water, solvents, moisture and impact

Is this adhesive rigid or semi-rigid?

I am bonding two pieces of thin fiberglass laminates together and in service, the laminate might be caused to flex a little bit. I want to make sure that this adhesive isn't so brittle that the bond will crack and break when the laminates are flexed...please advise.

Answer:
It is flexible with essentially no filler (which is typically the first origin of flex fractures). Depending on the set speed and long term environment, as well as how well the laminates were prepared, it could 'tear' or delaminate over a long time. It is low viscosity after mixing, which would allow you to immediately add some Kevlar fibers across the joint.

Answer:
Some circuit boards are epoxy and some phenolic. The epoxy boards are typically coated, so depending on the repair, you might need to bevel and slightly overlap. Plastic Epoxy has a little flex, which may or may not be a benefit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Product!! I purchased this product to assemble a 3d printed race car for a charity event. The epoxy held everything together very quickly, and after curing overnight it sanded very easily. I highly recommend this product!! September 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ron's Review Used it on a very hard rubber bicycle pedal which I waited 36 hours to use after I glued it. It took 10 minutes for it to bulge again. I even used gorilla tape over it and around the pedal just before using the bicycle. It may be good for putting parts together that aren't subjected to a force but it gets a 0 for what I needed it for. October 18, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works well but does not hold under pressure! Used item to glue plastic window trim back together gave product a full 2 days to set. Upon install I had some of the screw holes break back out as soon as they were under pressure. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Practical and effective when properly used Many years ago, I bought a plastic tool cart from HD that is starting to break down (but it is no longer made). Critical hinges and latches broke just when i needed it, but this type of plastic 'can't be repaired' they say. I got the Plastic Epoxy, hinges, and latches from HD and started to work. I cleaned off the broken stuff and evened the surface, as well as drilled small retentive holes. This epoxy is both adhesive and structural, which I needed because the basic hinges and clasps don't naturally fit in place, and need filler. It also sticks to itself, which is important because, in order to get firm adhesion to the plastic cart, it needs to flow on thinly, but would droop if placed in bulk. Broad bonded patches were made at each location, then after initial set, new batches were made for each half of each part, adjusting the tilt to use gravity, and at the half-set time where viscosity slightly increases, some bulking and shaping was possible. After the parts were secure, final layers were placed to blend and add additional strength. Now I have a happy cart that I can use without worrying about it being old and fragile. September 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well for what we bought it for The product was bought to fix a broken part in my freezer. Worked for what we bought it for. Bought this product because it had a rating to -10 and in a freezer that matters. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Locktite tread lock I love this product and it always performs well, I do think it is expensive and the tube does not hold old product very long before drying out and using it again some time, however it is a good performer. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Epoxy When purchasing an epoxy product, try a unique approach...read the package. J B Weld, Gorilla Glue and many epoxies are not suited for plastics. Purchase the adhesive, or glue, manufactured for that particular application. Only that glue will give the result desired. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unless you are sure of the exact plastic you are working with, it is a risk to purchase. Like other adhesives this did not work on the plastic I was trying to mend. It is stated that certain plastics may not mend but I do not know the difference between one and another. June 28, 2016
