Product Overview

Loctite Epoxy Plastic Bonder is an acrylic formula that is specially formulated to bond and repair plastic surfaces. The convenient double syringe dispenses equal amounts of each component every time. When mixed in equal volumes, the components react to produce a tough, rigid, high strength bond in 20 to 25 minutes. Loctite Epoxy Plastic Bonder does not shrink and is resistant to water, most common solvents and shop fluids. It has high impact resistance and can be sanded and drilled.

  • Repairs and bonds most plastic materials, including ABS, hard plastic, soft plastic, PVC and fiberglass
  • 2-part formula consists of resin and hardener
  • Permanent high bond strength
  • Dual syringe allows a precise mixture in every application
  • Resistant to water, solvents, moisture and impact
  • Resistant to water, solvents, moisture, and impact

Customer Questions & Answers

Is this adhesive rigid or semi-rigid?

I am bonding two pieces of thin fiberglass laminates together and in service, the laminate might be caused to flex a little bit. I want to make sure that this adhesive isn't so brittle that the bond will crack and break when the laminates are flexed...please advise.

I'd say rigid.

My painter broke the control rod on my vertical blinds (I didn't notice until he was paid and gone), and I purchased this to repair it. The salesperson told me that this would create a bond stronger than the original plastic. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The bond was weak and didn't hold up. Also, the joined plungers seem like a good idea in theory, but the plastic used is too flimsy so it is easy to expel very unequal amounts of each compound. I did like the thoughtful design of the cap, which can't be mistakenly reversed.

This product as a "regular" epoxy is fine, but it is noted for use with plastics. Their website says it can be used on PVC - based on this expectation, I purchased this product and used it as a filler on a pvc pipe project (not for plumbing) - it was a small area (1/4" x 1" x 1/8" deep). After curing over 24 hours, I was sanding and blending the area filled in with the Loctite Plastic Epoxy - the edges could not be blended and feathered - they just peeled away from the PVC and did not stay adhered. Perhaps should have used bondo instead or let this product cure longer - but in any case, having used the product as recommended did not produce satisfactory results. To finish this little patch - I applied instant glue to try to salvage the poor adhesion at the edges - sanded and painted over the patch, looks fine now.

Great for shattered plastic and situations where the plastic has small gaps between the bonding surfaces. For clean sharp breaks that fit together tightly, definitely better off with loctite superglue. By itself, not sufficient to repair an armrest on a chair, but combined with a metal mending plate with metal bolts, it gets the job done by holding the break while the mending plate takes the weight.

The globe bulb, covering the light bulb, was held with a rusted screw that, when I tried to un-screw, broke the plastic lamp. I used this product (held it in place after one minute curing without reattaching so it got sticky enough to stay put, otherwise it falls off). Now my lamp is holding nicely (I got a plastic globe too, the glass one broke)

It set-up in the times indicated on the packaging. Let the mended piece set up for 24 hours as directed in the instructions. After setting, went to install piece in the application and the epoxy joint failed completely. Oh well... Back to the drawing board. Maybe the epoxy wasn't intended for the type of plastic I was trying to mend...

I glued a plastic chair arm that broke. It did not hold. When I screwed the arm back together, after waiting 36 hours, it came apart. I don't believe any glue would probably hold based on the pressure from the chair arm.

I bought this to add strength to a joint on an ABS-plastic shelf support in my Whirlpool refrigerator. It's been two months and the bond between the epoxy and ABS has remained tight at the cold temperature (38°F) inside the fridge.
