I used this product on a retaining wall that is only two blocks in height. (A garden) After 2 years, 50% of the second level blocks were loose. All blocks were clean when I created the wall as the dirt had not been poured in yet. I had to reinstall the blocks with PL Premium 10 fl. oz. Advanced Polyurethane Construction Adhesive. That seemed to do the trick.
If you are planning on creating a block stack in any way, I would go with something that has better quality, or you will be redoing your project again in a short amount of time.

I used 3 boxes of this stuff building all of the walls in our new backyard landscape. Easy to work with and holds up great. I even used it to stick the decorative birds to blocks to keep them from tipping over. You can pickup the whole thing by grabbing the legs of the bird. Fantastic product. Just be sure to keep a big screw handy to plug the end between uses.

This product grabs, holds, and lasts! Not the case with any other product I have tried. I have young children that love to "walk the walls" I have had no loose capstones since using this product!

I used it one week, and it worked reasonably well, though the squeeze handle had to be squeezed pretty hard. I capped the tube as directed, but a week later I could hardly get anything out at all. If you are going to use it all at once, that's good. But if your project is spread out over a week, just get the ordinary tubes of landscape adhesive, used with a caulk gun.

I've used over 175 tubes of this and it works. I use on all landscape block (even with lip) not just the caps. No problems. I use about a tube for every 7 or 8 blocks. Capstones about the same rate. If working in the hot sun, you had better get it on, check it a few times (tends to slide around some). The next day you will need a chisel and hammer to pry off. Make sure your blocks are clean and dry. Adhesive doesn't stick at all to a damp surface.

Bought this to adhere cap stones to a retaining wall. Has worn well thru 3 seasons and four kids balanceing on it. Very stable results, easy to apply.

Nothing exciting here. Just some super adhesive for cap stones.
If you just run a bead, it may not hold well because caps often don't sit perfectly flush with retaining walls. I found that placing larger blobs every few inches worked better. You can check by running a bead, setting down the cap, then lifting it back up. You may notice that contact is not made in many areas.
I haven't tried ripping off the caps to check the strength, but I don't think it would be fun trying.
