Questions & Answers

I'm using it to glue XPS to concrete foundation. How many 4x8 sheets of XPS per 1 tube? Do you know the better adhesive?

Asked by: Alex
The tube says approx. 31.5 ft at ¼" bead I would estimate that at 1 tube per sheet. This stuff will glue foam to almost anything though I've never glued it to concrete.

how high temp will this adhesive stand?

Asked by: Ella
Ella, it depends on what you are adhering the foam board to. Unfortunately for me, it will not withstand the Texas heating of my metal porch roof roof. I had to use Loctite Marine Glue which only comes in small tubes, took hours and lots of tubes but did keep the boards up last summer> BUT this summer the boards became loose so I don't know what to use now!

Works perfect for installing foam board panels (XPS or EPS) on concrete basement walls. Notes of interest: does have a distinct smell, so you may want to ventilate the area. Takes about 24 hours to cure, so you will have to prop up your panels in some way during much or most of that time, though you may be able to fudge that a bit. I used 2x4s that I was going to use later for framing to prop them up, and various household objects to keep the bottom part in good contact with the wall. Doesn't have to be a lot of pressure.

If you cut it into strips like we did, I recommend you use some kind of knife instead of a table saw as there was an incredible amount of foam dust created that tended to stick to everything and was a mess to clean up. Also, pay attention to the directions that say if you need to have something prop it in until it adheres. Most of the panels were tight enough to say by themselves, but a few needed help and we tacked nails in the rafters to keep it in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stuck foam to cinder block Did a repair that required sticking the foam panels on bare cinder block. Adhesive was easy to work with and clean up. The foam adhered to the wall very firmly. I tested the first couple of pieces using less than I thought it would take to hold the foam so I could see how much more it would take to hold the foam but couldn't get the foam loose. Used left over foam and adhesive to make a play fort for 5 year old grandson. Worked well there too as long as I gave it time to dry.

This adhesive seemed to hold at first but after 48 hours, the foam board insulation began to pull away from cement foundation. The adhesive never seemed to fully dry and remained pliable and adhered like chewing gum where adhesive stretched after 48 hours of drying Would not recommend this product to anyone. Use a universal adhesive/standard construction glue instead.

First time to put foamboard up and being sure to use the FOAMGUARD adhesive. It would also have helped had those who helped us said to be sure to use the foamguard adhesive with the foamguard as other adhesives can eat through when adhering it to the concrete foundation. Costly in NOT having that knowledge. Thank you.

While it won't dissolve the foamboard the way some other glues will, I'm also not sure that this product cures properly when attaching foamboard to foamboard. I found uncured adhesive between layers of foamboard when I had to drill a hole for electrical installation a full couple of days after the foamboard was installed.

However the quality control on the packaging was poor. Three out of the 12 tubes contained only about 1/3 of the product they were suppose to. And one tube was separated with liquid in one end and pastes in the other. It was used within three days of purchase.

I used it to adhere Styrofoam panels to the basement walls (for additional insulation). I tried another product before, and it failed miserably. The adhesive was consistent, did not run, had a pleasant odor, and cured reasonably fast.
