Customer Questions & Answers

Will my neighbors be able to pickup the signal or will they need any provided software?

I have a neighbor that is in line of sight with camera and with in the estimated signal strength. Will he be able to pick up the signal or is there something that will make it unique to my computer or TV?
Asked by: Dobecool
No they will not. Each camera is specific to pairing ONLY with that camera's receiver, as out of the box. Even if you are running 3 of these LW2231s. I have a good neighbor that is running 2 wireless cameras himself, brand unknown, and for over 2 years he has never experienced any view of any of mine and vise versa. Two of my LW2231s are only 40 to 50 feet from his wireless cameras and neither of us has ever experienced any type of interference from each other. Recommendation: If ever you are looking to record what is being captured, I strongly recommend using a high quality DVR capable of recording in 960H at no less than 25 frames per second on at least 4 channels or more simultaneously, over using a computer and a computer program. DVRs gives you much better quality recordings.

What are the down load options for video storage? I understand the system has a wy-fy connection but do I need to hook the DVR to the router or is

there an internet option for storage.? Can I hook the system to my computer? Thanks
Asked by: Bird
The WiFi connection of this wireless camera means: WiFi between camera itself and the camera's receiver only. Your download option for storage would be via USB input source on a DVR using a USB flash drive most likely supporting up to 16 to 32GBs of storage, maybe more. Other than that, your DVR's hard drive stores recycled footage for a temporary time that varies depending on DVR recorder settings. You still have full operation, use and access with all functions of the DVR when a monitor or TV and mouse are connected to the DVR itself. No need to connect the DVR to a router. But, a DVR connected to a router via Ethernet cable, gives you the capability to access basic DVR settings, view live, view recorded feeds, snap pics, start/stop recording and save video clips remotely using a smartphone, tablet or PC from anywhere in the world that has good data services available. Or, if you are able to connect to a secure WiFi connection, use it. A WiFi connection is a better connection source than what data service performance gives you. *Questions are welcomed. Thank You!

how to record

will this unit record to a pc. and if so how much will it retain. I would be ok with a 7 day wrap around. or maybe the pic can save off the file every 7 days to a file. I have wifi to hook it up thru to pc.
Asked by: retiredbaldy
No. An analog DVR is what you would need to record on. Would not recommend using a PC even if you were able to use video to USB PC adapters to accomplish this. If you were to experience a burglary, a PC is one of the first things a burglar would steal. Then you would NOT have any footage to identify the burglar. I know this, as it happened to me. Using a DVR you can hide the DVR in an attic or an undisclosed area that is hidden. Besides, when recording in the 960H format it uses quite a bit of the hard disk. A 500gb hard drive using 4 of these, depending on the recording and/or motion settings and the environment conditions, you will be lucky to get approximately 10 days of recycled past footage on a 500gb hard drive.

Customer Reviews

LW2231 Wi-Fi Indoor/Outdoor Weatherproof Wireless Accessory Bullet Camera with Audio is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable Camera I had purchased several models of Lorex camera's over the years. All seemed to have issues with keeping wireless connectivity. I tested just one LW2231 camera for a month and found it to be superior to any of the previous models tested. I purchased three more and I am currently using 4 cameras. It has been 2 months and I haven't had any issues. The technology to keep the signal locked between the receiver and transmitter is excellent. Night vision is far better than any previous camera versions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Wireless Camera For The Buck! I have other posts regarding surveillance equipment and I must say this wireless camera's performance tops all the others(6 different manufacturers) I have purchased. Superb picture quality and night vision! At best, I get about 100ft of night vision with my lighting conditions at the installed location. A bit more pricey than others, but well worth the extra cost.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not very impressed this might be a great product if you are looking for real time and not actual recorded shots.sitting and watching the t.v. wasnt what i was looking for but the quality, picture and audio seem good and it was easy to set up it isnt truely wireless either it comes with 2 adapters one for the camera and one the base both need to be plugged in so again not what i was looking for but i needed something and this is what the store had while i waited for other unit to come by mail , i will be returning this .for the same price i found another one that better meets my needs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from LW2231 Wireless Security Camera I purchased the Lorex 2232 960H wireless Security camera system with 6 surveillance cameras model LW48lh-4pk directly from Lorex. The system performs great during the day, but the night vision is lacking in it's capacity to pickup a clear images. The night images displays poor resolution providing a poor distorted and grainy picture.
