Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MBF Louisville Elite Aluminum Attic Ladder--a better attic ladder
The Louisville Elite aluminum attic ladder is a better attic ladder than the old, springs-and-wood version. The installation guide could be better, but what guide is NOT in need of improvement? We have used this ladder to scamper up and down into our attic for a couple of weeks now, and I recommend it as an improvement to anyone with an old attic ladder with bent supports. I also recommend placing the temporary anchors on the inside of the frame instead of the outside if you want to easilty remove them afterwards (hence "temporary").

This attic ladder replaced a wood attic ladder that had gotten really cranky. The springs wouldn't stay on it anymore and it was really heavy. This aluminum ladder weighed half of what that wood attic ladder. That made it easy to mount by myself. There are no springs on this new ladder. I like it.

Stupidly I put the stairs in place before I gave them a close inspection. On of the main supports was bent a bit causing some splintering in the door around the bolt holes. On the other side by the pull cord a 7 inch long splinter must have come out during assembly because they had coated the area with wood filler which was falling out. When totally installed the whole hinge and support area still has some flex. Not very happy

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ToadHaul Good product at a great price
We purchased this ladder to replace an existing ladder. The old unit used springs for the open / close assist and part of the mechanism had failed. The Louisville Ladder Elite was very well constructed and the use of pneumatic cylinders instead of springs is a tremendous improvement. The installation was not difficult although a third person was a great help (the instructions call for two people). The only complaint (minor) is that the nuts for the 4 1/4" bolts used to attach the adjustable ladder feet were missing. Fortunately, we had some in our "spare parts" box and a trip to the store was avoided.

The installation instructions should be changed. Using the four straps to temporarily hold the stairs in place is not a good idea. It is better to use two 1x4 boards to hold the stairs in place so they align flush with the ceiling. The insulation panels need to be glued in place, otherwise they slide and interfere when closing the stairs. Otherwise, very pleased with the stairs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HB Good product...After looking at many other ladders, glad I chose this one....easy to install...works great.
The instructions were good. Took about 2 1/2 hours to completely install. Worked great on the first try.
One suggestion....add two more braces from step to frame at middle or bottom, to firm up stairs from wiggle. I put two more little braces and the steps are now solid as a rock....no wiggle.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rich I had to order this product online because they don't carry it in the store. I like it better then the spring loaded pull down stairs .
The stairs are easier to use then the one with the spring.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Doc1 Easy to install, good quality for the price, operates well.
This attic ladder was a good buy. It took a couple of hours to install. It is functional and the price was right. Easy to pull down when you want to access your attic.
