Can this dimmer be used for a ceiling fan (3 bulbs)? The fan is not connected to a light switch so I can't use a dimmer switch.

Answer:
As long as the Credenza is not connected to the fan in anyway and just the lights, it would be able to control bulbs that are in a fan.

Unfortunately there is always some potential for RF interference (RFI) when using a dimming control next to speakers, intercom, radio, etc. However, it is hard to say for sure if you will experience any static because some bulbs may create more RFI than others and some radios are actually better at filtering RFI than others. I used one to dim my pre-lit tree this year and I noticed it was making a slight humming sound, and then blew. I noticed the slider was quite warm right after. Tried looking for a fuse (there's a removable piece on the back) but couldn't find one. It's toast. I'd been using it for several years to dim some smaller wattage items, this was the first year for the whole tree - guess it was more than 300 watts even though they are mini-lights. Just checked the box, 1500 "super bright" bulbs. Should've known better. I'd say if it's warm you should probably think about another dimmer able to hand more power. Also just looked up the wattage on the incandescent mini lights - 40 watts per 100, so I definitely overloaded mine at 600 watts. No wonder it blew. So you should be ok since you are under 300 watts, it probably is designed to handle a little heat. If in doubt get a Kill-a-Watt meter. Read Less

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent purchase My wife & I had purchased patio lights that were extremely bright, & I was looking for a product that would give us flexibility in controlling the brightness of the lighting. there were several products on the market that gave two levels of lighting, but this offers a full range of levels. Although it is for indoor use, I just bring it inside after using it. after investing 100.00 in lighting, and not being satisfied with how bright the lights were, this solved the problem!!!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the Job Would have prefered an extension cord type more. THis works. Enough said, September 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by used for my patio market lights used this on our market style patio lights that were too bright. we dimmed them just perfectly and used a timer also so the lights come automatically in the evening at the perfect brightness. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Great with our floor lamp We bought this for use with our new floor lamp. It has a 6 foot cord and a sliding switch for dimming the lights. Am very satisfied with it. June 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I wanted!!! I have a lovely, vintage swag light fixture that has new wiring but does not have a dimmer. When I redecorated my room, I so wished I would have gotten a dimmer switch with the rewire. Luckily - now I have one thanks to this lighting piece, the credenza 300 watt plug-in lamp dimmer. Very happy and can now enjoy a romantic glass of wine with my hubby!!!! May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy on your Eyes and Very Convenient This was not my first purchase of this product. This in itself should tell you something. I hate bright lights when your eyes have become accustomed to the dark. These dimmers are the perfect solution for the bedside night stand table lamp. You plug the lamp into the dimmer's plug, and then the dimmer plug into the wall outlet. The dimmer slide then conveniently rests on the tabletop next to the lamp. When you need a light in the middle of the night, the small red LED makes the control easy to find in the dark. The raised button is easily identifiable in the dark, and allows the user to bring up the light level just enough to see what you need to without blinding your eyes that have become acclimated to the dark. They also work well for floor lamps that you'd like to be able to adjust the level of light to the exact amount you desire. Great product!! February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as described I purchased this to dim and control some halogen lighting I installed in my home entertainment center. When I have company over it's turned up full power, and when I'm watching TV I'll have it set on low to a create a soft glow. Works as described. September 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by patio lighting Install vintage bulb light string...it was too bright...dimmer works great. 5 stars if plug desgned different and if slider could be mounted...had to use double stick tape. July 13, 2015
