Answer:
Yes. This switch can handle up to 600 watts of incandescent or halogen lights so as long as you are under that, this switch can control both lights simultaneously.

Answer:
The more wattage that placed on the dimmer, the warmer it will feel; however, this is perfectly normal and safe. Lutron dimmers are designed to the strictest UL safety standard and can handle their full rated load (a 600W dimmer can handle a full 600W of power*) without overheating. If the dimmer is placed next to other dimmers however, you may need to derate the unit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked to perfection! The skylark contour-600 watt dimmer works well with six recessed lights in our newly finished basement. Highly recommend. May 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Two in one dimmer I have a lot of dimmer switches in my house and they are the typical slide the bar up to on and then all the way down till it clicks to off. Once you learn to hear or feel the click you don't have to worry about a light left on super dim. The reason I like this type of dimmer switch is I can leave the switch set at about half way , which is normally bright enough, and then just hit the switch on or off. These type of switches are deep because of the reo-stat used for dimming so it can make it a little more difficult fitting it in the box, it just takes a little more time moving wires around. Yes they are a little more expensive than a typical dimmer but I wanted functionality and convenience and that's what I paid for and that's what I got. May 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use Easy install. Two wires plus ground. 600 W capacity powerful to call a number of ceiling light on one circuit but add the load you will need to illuminate by adding the wattage of each bulb. Do not overload as it will certainly shorten the life of the dimmer. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Defective from the package. Dimmer function did not work. This has been a problem with these switches ever since I have needed to use them. July 12, 2016
