I've had 14 wall mounted lights installed on my exterior concrete fences. The lights are 40 watts each. Will this work with this amount of lights?

Is this dimmer CFL/LED/Incandescent compatible? The specs don't mention this. I'm replacing all old bulbs in our house with LEDs by attrition. Thanks.

We have a huge house with lots of lights, so it would be expensive to replace all the old incandescent bulbs at once. As I replace the dimmers I need the type that works with all types of bulbs. Thanks.

Answer:
This dimmer is not compatible with dimmable CFL's or LED's. Lutron does manufacture a Toggler style dimmer that is compatible with all bulb types (model # TGCL-153PH-WH). The TGCL-153PH-WH can be used with up to 600 Watts of incandescent or halogen bulbs or 150 Watts of dimmable CFL or LED bulbs.

I need to replace a dimmer switch and need the wire connections either top left (white) and right (black)
My white wire is too short for both connections on the right (looking at it installed) side of the switch.
Replacing switch that is a Lutron, 120 VAC, 60 HZ, 1000W. Existing wire is copper, circumference of wire including insulation is approximately one centimeter.
Please advise a replacement mfgr and model.

Thank you

Answer:
Unfortunately, all of the Toggler style dimmers will use screw terminals instead of wire connections coming out of the back. If the wire in the wall is too short to connect, you’re best bet would be to connect a small piece of wire to it so it extends out to the dimmer control.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, but.... This dimmer was purchased for dimable LED bulbs. It states that it will dim the types of lights, but every once in a while the lights will flicker for just a moment. The level of the light dimmer setting does not seem to make a difference to when this could occur. February 10, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hard to use I put a nice cover over the light switch - not the plain inexpensive cover. The problem is that the dimmer part of the switch does not stick out too far and with the nice cover (perhaps a bit thicker than the cheapie) and it is hard to dim the lights. Aside from this, It looks great in my newly lit den. I will learn to tolerate this minor inconvenience - it beats having bright lights and no mood. But the design could have been better. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1000-Watt Single-Pole Dimmer Product was easy to install. It did not get hot like the less expensive one I purchased earlier. It does get a litte warm, but that is to be expected. There is no buzzing or humming from this dimmer. June 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great safe product I just purchased a home,In the master bath there are 22 40 watt lights over the mirrors controlled by one dimmer. If the lights were on for a short time the switch would get very hot.come to find out it was a 600 watt dimmer switch so I changed it out with the new 1000 watt switch and its fine now. I didn't have to change the face plate the old one fit. April 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Functions well, good value Good product. Included all instructions and parts needed. Does a good job controlling 5 large light fixtures in a small auditorium. March 6, 2012
