Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Steve High-pitched noise with LED bulbs
I purchased this dimmer to complement my dining room light containing 8 of the Cree LED bulbs (60W equivalent). This dimmer is listed on the Cree compatibility charg as supporting up to 8 bulbs, but when it's turned on there is a high-pitched whine coming from the light fixture. The whine is relatively constant at all brightness levels, and goes away when the circuit is off. Replacing with a non-dimming 3-way switch solved the problem.
I bought this switch specifically to dim LED bulbs, and although it does dim them, the sound produced is unacceptable.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by tbg Noticable Delay when Switched On - Acknowledged by Lutron tech support !
Using with Cree LED DR series recessed lighting retrofit kits. There is a 1/2 second delay when turning the lights on. Spoke to Lutron, and they told me the delay is due to the time needed for the microprocessor in the switch to activate. The chip is there so that these dimmers can work with CFL's and "some" LED's. However, I spoke to Cree and they confirmed that in my case, the standard "non-LED rated" dimmer switch will work fine with these Crees. Lutron then confirmed that the standard non-LED rated dimmer would have absolutely no delay as they don't have a microprocessor. Plus, they are about $10 cheaper. Would be nice for someone at Home Depot to point this out!!!!!

We had these installed as part of our kitchen renovation. Instead of just a simple dimmer, this switch has three different dimmer settings. From really low to really bright. We ended up using the middle setting which makes the recessed lighting perfect. Really like this product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Decent product and great customer service
Initially I was not overly impressed as my ceiling light with 3 Eco-Smart 60W equivalent LED bulbs appeared to flicker randomly. Lutron was quick to try and help debug the problem and it turned out to be one faulty bulb with a manufacturing defect. Once replaced the light switch and dimming feature function as advertised.
There is a noticeable delay when turning the lights on which is caused by an interior microprocessor. Perhaps this is a necessary evil, but I like to think that technology may overcome the delay eventually. This delay completely negates the benefit of instant-on LED compared to CFL bulbs.
This was unnecessarily expensive for me since I was just using it as a single pole switch and not a 3 way, but all in all I am happy. The switch does what I expected and I plan on buying more now that I know it works as I hoped.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JR Works as expected
I only used this to control a single LED spotlight, so there isn't much current draw, but there's no humming and it works as advertised. Installed in in a box with a 3-way switch, so there's not much room - deep boxes are OK, but the shallow versions will be difficult.

This dimmer switch replaced a worn out rotary dimmer switch. It looks better than the old dated rotary switch and the change out was simply. What more can I say?

I'm using this for Cree 65w BR30 dimmable LED bulbs. As other reviewers have noted, in single-switch usage, you'll have to turn the switch down to turn the light on. Counter-intuitive, but it works. I could mount the entire switch upside down to rectify that, but then the dimmer slide would be upside down, which would be even worse. For 2-switch applications, this odd switch position won't be an issue. I also wish the switch were better marked for wire connections, but like every switch I've ever seen, the identifications are in the paper pamphlet only. Now for the good stuff: I bought two of these, and they both worked. They make no noise (no hum, no hiss, etc.). Also, there's a little dial on front of the switch (which will be hidden by the wall plate), which allows you to control just how dim the lowest setting will be. For my Cree 65w bulbs, I turned it all the way down, and that was good; the bulbs let off a faint glow at that level.
