Questions & Answers

Can I use existing 3 switch plate? This would replace one of the switches. Is that do-able? Will switch fit, or is it wider than standard?? Thanks

Asked by: chris
Yes it will fit although you will probably have to break off those tabs you see on the sides. Keep in mind the microprocessor causes a delay when turning on the light and you may also experience some annoying flicker if you are using LED bulbs.

The dimmer works great, but the on/off switch is on when in down position, dimmer is bright at top. Could this be my mistake?

Asked by: CLEEVE
Did you install it upside down? I almost did.

fluorescent ceiling fixtures.

I have 9 fluorescent ceiling fixtures, each with two T-8 dimable tubes operating off of a single switch. Will this switch dim these lights or is there a different switch that I should use?
Asked by: DunMovin
No, you will have to install a different switch, one that has dim built in.

In May of 2017 I purchased 8 BR30 dimmable led bulbs and then looked for a switch that would work in our 3 switch wall plate. This looked OK to me so I brought it home from Home Depot, removed and replaced the 8 old bulbs, removed the old 3-way switch and installed the new Lutron switch. Worked perfectly and the dimming is fantastic. I don't know the exact percentage range of the dimmed lights but they go from full light to less that half light (and maybe the actual low dimming rate is a lot less than half). We are as happy, maybe happier, with this setup as we were with an old dimmer controlling the previous 8 incandescent bulbs. The 3 attached photos were taken on a sunny day in Georgia at about 11:30am. Still easy to see the dimming capability of this switch.

I had flipped the wires around which caused the switch to be reversed. Swapped them around and it worked as expected. Was also able to adjust the min/max brightness accordingly. This switch can fill up the switch box so be sure to have enough room to hold this switch.

If you need to put more than one in a box (i.e. a two-gang- or three-gang box, you need to break the tabs that are scored, which is very easy if you follow the instructions. Works great with LED can inserts and LED track lights.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well Dimmer installed just as it should. I liked the fact that there are terminals rather than wires to splice to as the wire nuts used for wire to wire connections take up real estate in the box. The only issue and I've had this before , is that using this dimmer with led bulbs can under some circumstances causes flickering in dimmed position. Not always, just sometime. I've talked to lutron about it and they are aware of the issue suggesting changing the dimming adjustment on the front of the switch, but that does solve the problem all the time. Not a big issue though as it's intermittent and it only seems to happen on low settings.
