The TGCL-153PH-WH model that is mentioned above is an expensive 3-Way dimmer. What about a single pole version?

Haven't checked this switch but the switch must be led compatible to work. This info is on the package. Also check the watt rating for led use, it is not the same as the600watts for the incondesent
lights.

Answer:
Hello! This dimmer is not meant for use with LEDs; however, Lutron does manufacture a model that is compatible with all bulb types, including dimmable LEDs. That model # is TGCL-153PH-WH and can be found on Homedepot.com. Please refer to Lutron's Compatible Bulb List on that product page under Info & Guides' "Specification" document for a list of bulbs that were approved for use with this dimmer.

I am looking for this style switch to control a ceiling fan, would this model work. The light and fan are on different switches. The light is on a dimmer and want to add a control that would let me adjust the fan speed from the wall since the fan is mounted high and it can be hard to reach the pull chain.

yes, but they make switches that have a dimmer for a fan and a light in a single device for only a few dollars more.

Answer:
No The dimmer has no provision for a full speed start up which may damage the fan. Also the wattage of the fan may over load the switch itself.

Unfortunately the TG-600PR is only designed to dim incandescent and halogen light bulbs and would not be able to handle a fan motor. Lutron does however manufacturer a Toggler 3-speed fan control that will work for your application (model number TGFSQ-FH-WH).

NO, I purchased this with the same intensions. I paid $12.95 for this switch then through away my receipt and box it came in. I guess I'm out my $12.95. After installation the fan had a loud hum to it. I came to find out the only switches which will control fan speed costs from $29.00 to $59.00. Ask a Home Depot associate for help.

Answer:
yes, but would be confusing when flipping toggle up to turn the light off and sliding the dimmer down to turn the lights brighter. I recommend getting used to the slide on the right side as you adjust the brightness less often than you turn the switch on or off.

Unfortunately we would not recommend mounting this dimmer upside down due to the way the dimmer is designed to dissipate heat.

I think so. Not a mercury switch. You'll have off up and on down, that might confuse someone but not the switch.

No at leas I guess not. 540 watts should not over load the switch but is close. The load would be less with the CFL but I'm not sure of the "dimabilty". They do have a LED set that would work in your case. This is a nice low wattage retro fit that works well and looks good

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 66 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very good for dimmable led bulbs I got this dimmer to replace a regular toggle switch in the baby room. We needed to be able to adjust the brightness. The installation was easy: the switch actually comes with three wire leads and three wire nuts, so all i had to do was connect the two power wires and the ground wire together. It was much easier than trying to twist a thick copper wire into a loop to wrap around the screw the way it is done for traditional old switches. One thing i noticed was the switch was bigger than the old one, so i was worried about fitting the switch and all the wires into the box- but with some twisting and jamming it fit fine. Some people comment about the high price of this switch, but in my experience it was worth it. I connected it to a fixture with two dimmanle LED bulbs, and this dimmer gives them a very nice range of brightness, from full power down to a very dim setting. When I use dimmable LED bulbs with older dimmer switches, it always seems like the brightness range is poor and even with the lowest setting, the bulbs are too bright. September 3, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent dimmer Simple to install, works as expected. This is a dimmer switch for incandescent light bulbs. May 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by easy peasy It was easy to install. The packaging indicates there is an adjustment for the dimmer, but there is not.. It works well with the four 65 watt equivalent LEDs we have in our fixture. April 26, 2016
