Is this easy to program?

We are replacing a programmable thermostat that works fine but is difficult to program.
The one we have now had tiny indicators as well as a lengthy process for setting the schedule.
I don't want to repeat the same error when I buy a new one. Since this is online only, I can't see the actual item until I purchase it.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

If you are like me where I am home all week and do NOT deviate much you can program each day including the weekend days identically. You will like the large 2-inch display which is easily seen from across the room. The bright blue backlit display is a joy especially if you need to see the temperature at night or in a dimly lit room. If you have doubts about if this thermostat is to your liking go to the manufacturers website (www.luxproducts.com) and download the users guide to determine if this is suitable. If you presently live in NY State both Con Ed and Nationa lGrid have a thermostat rebate promotion going on however you have to act quickly as this program runs out very shortly Read Less

Answer:
Yes. You will need the common wire to be hooked up to your furnace though. The wiring in my house had a left over blue wire that wasn't being used, so I hooked it up to the proper transformer terminal (-) and it worked great. Works without batteries too.

Answer:
The TX9600TS will be battery operated only if you do not have a "C" common wire coming to the thermostat wiring C terminal. Or If you have a common "C" wire the unit can operate with the batteries as a backup for the memory or without the batteries operating only from the furnace 24 volt power source. Answer:
In theory yes. Really a lot more thermostat than what you need. If you treat it as a single stage heat only and keep the batteries fresh. This unit does not need an outside power source to operate. please refer to the manual and wiring diagram #2 bearing in mind that you will not have a 24volt power supply wire. http://www.luxproducts.com/support/TX9600TSa_ENG_WebManual1.pdf
