My wooden garage doors are only 1.25 inches thick and I would have to install the bottom seal so that the front would be flush with the outer side (thus not centered). Would this work with this product?
Asked by: Steve
If your doors are wood, screw and glue a 1/2" strip along the inside of the bottom of the door to make it wider. Then you have the surface area you need to make the new gasket fit.

Is this suitable for a Liftmaster Professional Formula 1 door?

Asked by: MamaC
I'm not familiar with the door brand. Logically, it would fit. Why would anyone design a one-size-fits-all that would not fit?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used to block gaps on sides & top of closed garage door This product is advertised as a bottom seal between garage door and floor. I had about a 1/2" gap between the outer side of the closed garage door on both sides & top. Using 4 sets, I completely sealed a double-wide sectional metal roll-up door and it works great. I also coated the vinyl part with ArmorAll to make it somewhat slicker against the outer edges of the door and it easily compresses to fill in the slightly uneven gaps. To clarify, my door is about 3" wider and higher than the opening, so I mounted the aluminum base on the inner side of the garage wall, flush with the opening edge all around. Another benefit I realized after the installation is the door rollers no longer make as much noise when opening and closing, as the slight pressure of the seal compressing keeps the door rollers against the inside edge of the tracks instead of bouncing back and forth a bit while opening and closing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good product Product was easy to install and works exactly as advertised. I installed it myself and all things considered - measuring, cutting etc. it took about an hour or so. The vinyl strip is flexible and conforms to irregularities in the dirt/stone floor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best $20 I've spent on my home so far! Big thanks to all the other reviewers who gave pointers on installation. Knowing a few key things about this installation makes all the difference. 1) you need a nut driver to screw in the tap screws. I bought the Dewalt at Home Depot. DEWALT 1/4 in. x 1-7/8 in. Steel Magnetic Nut Driver Model # DW2218 Z for $2. 2) cutting the aluminum to size was probably the toughest part with my hacksaw. Maybe Home Depot can do this for you if you measure first? 3) A lot of folks hate the screws but I understand why they were used - You don't drill them through the aluminum into the garage door, you use a hammer and "tap" the first eighth inch into the aluminum, then use that fancy new bit to drill them the rest of the way through. 4) make sure to line the two pieces of aluminum nicely 5) have a friend help you. Sliding in the rubber stripping was easy Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice upgrade for older doors I used these to replace some very old cracked and warped rubber nail on type seals on our wooden garage doors. Since we were installing on wood doors we predrilled the rails and used treated drywall screws to fasten the rails to the door bottoms rather than the included self tappers. I also used a thick bead of sealant under each rail to make an air tight seal. Once the rails are installed inserting the weatherstripping is pretty easy but I would recommend having a helper. One person to feed the weatherstripping into the rail and another to pull it across the door. Almost impossible to do yourself. The quality of the rails and seals are very good and if you ever need to replace the seals it is an easy fix. For a few more dollars it is a superior product over the old style nail on foam/rubber strips.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's fate is sealed This was to purchased to fix a leak in my shed from a prior threshold I installed that had torn. The installation was a breeze. It's been about 1 year since I installed and I'm disappointed to report that the door is leaking again because of the threshold. The rubber has lost alot of it's rigidity and doesn't seem to seal as well as it did initially. I have done some research online and there seem to be some other products that have better reviews, will last longer for the same cost.

The nice part about installing the entire bottom, is that I only need to replace the seal next time. My last one lasted twenty-five years and since I am seventy-six someone else can replace the next one!! An excellent buy and a very good price.
