Customer Reviews

42 in. Brown Cinch Door Seal Top and Sides (5-Piece) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sealed an uneven door gap very well We've been remodeling our cabin and we had re-trimmed the outside of our front door. I had removed the old draft proofing strip and damaged it beyond repair in the process and was wondering what to use to replace it with. This seal strip was easy to install (you pretty much measure, peel and stick) and most importantly it sealed an uneven gap on the door frame (wider at top than at the bottom). Looks good in brown too and contrasts much better than the brass and grey rubber strip it replaced. Its best to install with the door closed so you can position it correctly to fully cover the gap as it is pretty solidly attached once you stick it on!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unusual, but effective This weatherstrip has two unusual characteristics. First, it's a study metal strip with a rubber insert. Second, it goes on the outside of inward-opening doors. The adhesive sticks well. I was able to quickly reposition the end of one strip without peeling paint or losing adhesion. It goes on easily, although the joint between the 42" strips on the left and right sides of the door wasn't as pretty as I wanted. It was unclear whether the 1/2" of rubber that sticks out of each end of the metal strip is intentional or should be trimmed for a tight joint. I ended up trimming it and still had trouble making a perfectly aligned butt joint for the two strips. There's one big advantage to this design. My door is warped enough that the top left corner doesn't close tightly against the jam. The previous traditional weatherstripping let a draft in through the resultant crack. With the Cinch weatherstrip I was able to push it tightly against the door to get a good seal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seals out cold air After reading the instructions a couple times it wasn't to bad. The longest time is removing the old door seals. Comes with 5 pcs. each are 42" long,so you have plenty of material for an average size house door.Have only had a little over a week so not sure how long the adhesive will last(may need to put small tacks in later). Seems like it helps with the draft and cold air though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad but alternatives could be better Installation was a bit more work than I hoped. The pieces need to be cut down to size with a hacksaw. It sticks to the door frame and I am sure it will last since it is 3M adhesive, but only time will tell. Overall, this is a good product, but I personally would have preferred an alternative solution for sealing the door.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deformed and damaged door paint after 6 months use We were initially very impressed with the ease of installation and performance of this draft sealing strip. Unfortunately after about 5 months of use on our front door, the joint where the two halves of the rubber molding are attached started to deform. We removed the plastic tube that is used to attach the two halves of the rubber strip and this seemed to help however the deformation just kept getting worse. This problem only affected the hinged side of the door and seems to be created by the 'sliding' movement of the door as it returns to the closed position. This motion pulls the rubber out of the metal frame and squashes it in the gap between the door and the frame. In the end, it wrecked the paint job on our front door as you can see from the attached pics. The door had been repainted about 18 months earlier, so the paint was fully cured and this problem wasn't caused by the paint being too fresh. The top door strip and the strip on the side by the handle weren't affected by this problem, only the hinged side. In the end we just pulled the rubber strip out of the metal frame on the hinged side of the door and we're trying to figure out how to remove the aluminum sealer frame from the door frame without destroying yet more of the paintwork as the adhesive used on the metal sealer frames is quite strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff I live in a 115 yr old home & the front door is kinda funky. This door seal attached to the stop is the only thing that has been effective at sealing the door. Fairly easy to cut & install with a hack saw & box cutter. I was planning on using a few screws to fully attach the seal to the stop, however i didn't feel it was necessary after seeing how well the glue adhered. The seals have not budged since I installed them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Product - Easy Install Used this product to seal gaps caused by deteriorating weatherstripping on my front entry door. The rubber seals and the adhesive were very high-quality and made the installation easy. Before installation, I did make sure the seals were seated correctly in the aluminum extrusions as some were out of the track. The brown is very dark brown- like a darkness in Oil Rubbed Bronze and worked well with my front door color.
