Customer Questions & Answers

Can this shower door be installed to open either way?

Asked by: Anonymous
It is designed to be opened outward from the show. And can be mounted so you can pull it open from the left or right. If it is possible to mount it to open inward towards the shower(IF) it would not look right.

The specs on this door shows opening width 20in to 35in. My opening is 28.25in will it fit or does this door come in another part number?

Asked by: Anonymous
This door fit my 28.5 inch opening. Make sure that your smallest opening (top to bottom) is not less than 28.5 inches.

Will this door fit a 31" shower opening?

The description says it fits 28.5 to 30.5 inch door openings. My door is 31". The description also stated 2 additional inches in width provided by movable hinges and wall channel. Does this mean the door will actually fit a 32.5 inch opening?
Asked by: Anonymous
The 2 additional inches increase the max width to 30.5 inches. Probably won't work.

Customer Reviews

Insight 30-1/2 in. x 67 in. Swing-Open Semi-Framed Pivot Shower Door in Chrome with 6 MM Clear Glass is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent door Overall I am quite happy with the finished product. Like others reviews the instructions are poor, confusing or non-existent but in the end it all worked out. The holes on the pivots did not line up with the track so I had to re-drill pilot holes what is whatever. I installed this door on a 27 13/16 width fibreglass shower door so it will fit. I know I had to confirm before installing with consumer service (They were helpful)...but over all it looks good and seals well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall a great product at a great price. Just make sure to read all reviews for good tips first! Found this online and looked like a good door for a good price that I could assemble myself. The shipping experience was not good - the door was lost for three days (was supposed to arrive on a Tuesday and didn't show up until 7:00 p.m. the following Friday. The tracking info online was useless. To add insult to injury, the shipping box was pretty banged up. But, despite a few small scratches in a spot that was not going to be visible, it proved to be still in good shape. Like others have noted, many - though not all - of the part numbers were off in the manual and the printing quality was poor. However, IMPORTANT, you need to download the manual that's online here - it is more up to date with instructions that cannot be found in the manual that comes with the door. Specifically, how to use the extension piece, which I needed (finished wall distance was 30 1/4" for me). Plus, when viewing online, you can turn the brightness of your display up and the missing diagrams will appear very faintly on screen. That solved for a potential source for confusion. Also note there will be extra parts left over, depending on your type of installation. Installation was mostly straightforward after that. Just read the instructions fully beforehand and go slow. There are areas that can be confusing if you're not careful. For me, I had to keep switching the diagrams in my head, as my door was a right-hinge and most of the diagrams are for a left-hinge installation. Also, be aware when a diagram is drawn from within the shower versus outside of the shower. If you're not careful, that can trip you up. If you are careful, you'll get through it. Overall, probably took me a half day of going slow to finish it by myself. The door's adjusting screws give you plenty of adjustment room, which is a nice feature. One other issue I had was with my wall - the non-hinged side of the wall was not plumb. In fact, it bowed out in the middle by about 1/2". That had me very worried about how to deal with the resulting gap, but when I screwed down the frame on that wall, it molded nicely to the wall and took care of most of the the gap. The magnetic strip rail, because it is adjustable, was able to compensate for the bowed wall and now you can't even tell. Sweet! So far, it feels very solid, looks clean and modern, and no leaks. I'd get this again if I had another bathroom to do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Install This shower door is relatively easy to install. The directions are well written (I am a technical writer by trade). My installation was in a fiberglass shower stall so some filing had to be accomplished to get the side rails to fit properly. Don't fret though, the instructions cover this procedure. Anticipating delivery I downloaded the instructions from the manufacturers website and studied them in advance to gather the tools and equipment needed. It was a good thing I did because the instructions I downloaded were newer and more detailed than the ones that came in the box. This is a good shower door but download the latest set of installation instructions from the manufacturers website prior to installation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Door, Detective work Required I like the door and am glad I purchased it. It is decent quality and good price. The beginning of the instructions were easy to read, towards the end it seemed like they ran out of ink. All parts were provided, but the codes for the parts did not match the instructions. There were extra parts as well, so you really have to be able to solve a few mysteries, but, everything was there. I had to re drill some parts that did not have aligning holes. So again, if you have trouble assembling things with good , clear instructions- you may want to get someone else, who is handy, to put this in for you. I did it all myself, but you may need a helper to assist with marking holes while you use the level and also to lift the door into place. The door looks good once it is installed and it is sturdy. The door is heavy so it swings nicely and is not flimsy. Check my images to see details.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product Looks Great! This door went up easily and looks great. Seems very sturdy. Love the click when it closes. Only problem was the numbering of the parts on the installation sheet - off by one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Once installed looks and works great. The instructions need to be updated but I managed to get it together after trial and error.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classy Had a friend install it, because he tiled the shower for me as well. The door looks great. It's thick glass and feels solid on the hinges. A Magnetic strip keeps it closed tight when in the closed position.
