Customer Questions & Answers

Is this built into your wall? So someone has to come to the house to install it?

Asked by: Leigh
Leigh, I bet you could install it yourself if just take your time and have a tape measure, sharp utility knife and some luck you don't run it to wiring or plumbing hidden behind the sheetrock.....well maybe you should leave it to the Pro's. Mine installed in and upper wall that over hangs the kitchen and was very sure nothing was in the way, except insulation to my surprise ? Good Luck

The safe was physically larger than expected, however, when the door is closed, most of the center shelf space is taken up by the electronic lock mechanism leaving only the top and bottom shelves available for larger items. Having a key available as an alternate method of access is a good idea should the combination be forgotten or if the batteries fail while the safe is locked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product This is a good wall security safe for the price. I had two issues with it, one is the lag bolts that were included broke even though i drilled pilot holes. They are cheap zinc lag bolts, do yourself a favor and get 4 stainless 1/4 ×2 lag bolts. Second is the safe does not sit flush, i placed a painting over the safe and it bulges out on the center where the keypad is.

The only issue I have with it is that the locking mechanism takes up a large portion of the middle of the cabinet; you can't store items thicker than an inch on the middle shelf. Reserve that portion for papers stored upright.

Locking mechanism takes up a lot of the depth in the middle of the safe but there is still plenty of room for valuables. My safe only came with 3 lag bolts to mount the safe so I had to acquire the 4th bolt myself. Not a big deal. The lock instructions did mention to press a button that did not match any labels on the keypad and it never indicated where the reset button was located in the manual. These things are not hard to figure out but the manual does suck.

First: Find a suitable spot to place the safe; between 2 studs that are 16inches apart from center of stud. Otherwise you may have to reframe to accommodate the safe. Cutting hole with hand saw designed for sheet rock/plaster definitely helps keep dust at a minimum. Also cover the floor area. Have a shopvac handy. Safe does not hold a lot and is not fireproof. I placed in a closet at shoulder height for easy access. Be conscious of fact that the middle shelf space is limited by the inside of the access panel. Once I knew where I wanted to place it, cutting the hole and screwing it to the studs was simple. I used cordless drill with attachment for the bolts and process went quickly. It helped that the studs were plumb and therefore was easy to install level and plumb. While the safe has limited capacity it is just what I wanted to store for easy access small items like watches, keys to other safes and household locks etc.

The inside locking bolts do take up space, but why I gave it 4 stars is because you have to change the batteries out at some point. There is a key to open it, but our other wall safe has rechargeable batteries, along with keys, so that if the batteries are dead you just plug in the charger. That way you never have to go looking for the key, and never have to buy batteries. Overall it's a solid well built safe.
