Are there marks that look like someone drew lines with a pencil on the tile?

This question is from VitaElegante Grigio 6 in. x 24 in. Porcelain Floor and Wall Tile (14.53 sq. ft. / case)

We fell in love with these tiles and looked thru the individual ones to buy and take home as a sample. However, most that we looked at looked like there were pencil mark scratches. Yet, there were a few without them. When we looked at the closed boxes, we saw "scratch marks" on some. If there are some tiles with these marks on, is it noticeable on the floor or wall? Please advise.

Yes, the tile is very "busy". But it looks really good and I am going through a phase where I like that look. I usually like a really clean, uncomplicated look.

Yes, there are many fine lines, white sort of powdery splotches, what seem to be cracks (they are not) and verious other "distress marks". It's all part of the look of this unique tile.

Answer:
yes, I guess you could say that some of the markings on the tile look as if someone took a pencil and drew on the tile, but when all the tile is laid on the floor and the grout is in, you get the full effect of the tile and it does not look the same as it does in the box. Good luck with your choice!

The tile seems to have a good thick glaze and is made of porcelin which is very dense tough stuff. I wouldn't worry to much about the tile staining but the grout is another storey. Make sure to seal the grout with a good silicon sealer before you make that first cup of coffee, it's the grout that usually stains not the tile.

you should always seal your tile with a matte of flat silicon liquid. especially the grout lines since they are porous; use a crayon style foam padded applicator.

According to the manufacturers guide, any liquid that could stain should be wiped up immediately.
" As with most porcelains, spilled liquids may stain the light-colored products if not promptly removed."

Hi Rhonda - Typically porcelain tile doesn't stain easily so you should have no problem. It's actually probably a great choice for your kitchen because it's so whipable compared to natural stone tile that can sometimes be vey porous. I hope this helps! Enjoy the Vitaelegante tile!

Yes! I've used it on the walls in three shows and it looks great. I wouldn't recommend it for the floor because I'd worry that there isn't enough traction. I've attached a picture of one the showers I did - In that bathroom I just used simple 2x2 white tiles for the floor in the shower and it looked really nice. Hope this helps!

I have not seen any bull nose in our little store. You could try a big city store or call the manufacture. I know it seems that these tile are made in Itily but they are actually made in Texas, good o'l U.S.A. Look on the bottom of the box for their info, it's kind of hidden.

Unfortunitley I haven't found any bullnose tile to match this product yet. Home Depot sells a stainless steel metal strip meant for tile that can be used at the edge instead of a bullnose and depending on the look you're going for, personally I think that it looks really great with the style of this tile. Hope this helps!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful but brittle The tile looks beautiful in our new bathroom. It was easy to install but hard to cut because of the quality of the porcelain. Air bubbles in the tile would crack it in different places than scored. I do love our new bathroom with the 6x36 soaking tub. Used versa bond LFT and TEC Skill set grout (silverado). June 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great, easy to install Very happy with this tile on our master bathroom floor. I was able to cut all pieces with a dry saw with no chipping or cracking. We used Fusion grout in Delorean Gray - very happy with the contrast. Highly recommend! March 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not exactly 6x24 We purchased this tile with the intent of doing a herringbone pattern. After our tilers started laying the tile, they realized that a lot of the tiles were not the same size; some were off by an entire inch on the length. Long story short, we were left with 1,000 plus pounds of tile that had to be laid in a different pattern because of the discrepancy. Not to mention the extra time they spent on it after they realized it couldn't be done. August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Used as wall tile I am a first time tile DIYer and I have to say that I struggled with this tile. I used it for my bathroom shower and I think the issue was mostly that the tile was so big. So for first timers, I suggest a smaller tile because a larger tile may mean you have to put up less, it is heavier and a little more cumbersome to deal with. I did learn about backer rod, though...lol!! This tile looks beautiful!! I am hoping they will take back the extra pieces I have, especially since one did come without any color to it, it is blank. I love the pattern and it gives my bathroom a really nice high end look for a very reasonable price. I almost did not put up the bullnose edging because I felt that it was not quite bullnose enough, but I am glad that I did. All in all, I would recommend this tile, including the suggestion of others who said to use it with the Delorean Gray grout and caulk. I am very happy with it once I got over the stress of putting it up. August 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tile! Good quality tile for the price. Didn't have hardly any chipping or cracking even when cutting thin pieces or drilling. Looks great when done too! March 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Marazzi To fake looking with pattern should be more muted when connected together looks choppy July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this tile! Love this tile. Exactly the look I was going for with the Delorean gray grout! Easy installation January 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful choice I spent at lot of time deciding on the tile I wanted to use for a recent basement bathroom addition in our home. I could not be more thrilled with my decision on choosing this tile. For the price, you cannot go wrong. I love the modern look it gives to the space. We did use this tile on the bathroom floor and in the shower. Please note, there is NOT a bullnose available with this product. I worked with a local tile shop and they recommended using schluter metal and this completed our look perfectly! I cannot comment on the installation as my brother-in-law did this, but he did say that the size of the tile makes it a little trickier then usual to install. April 1, 2015
