This figure is the maximum temperature rise over the incoming water temperature. If the cold water coming into the unit is, say, 50 degrees, the maximum output temperature will be 150 degrees. Note that this maximum temperature is achieved by setting the burner to max and slowing the water flow to 1 gpm. At 2.5 GPM, the maximum temperature rise is only 40 degrees. Fortunately, another seller of this unit discloses that the incoming water pressure can range from 3.6 to 145 psi. To calculate the "head pressure" of your gravity feed system, measure the vertical height from where the pipe connects to your storage tank to where the pipe connects to the heater. The horizontal pipe run makes no difference. Multiply the rise in feet by 0.433 to get the psi. To achieve the minimum pressure of 3.6 psi, your water supply tank outlet has to be 8.3 ft. above the heater inlet connection. Higher is better, of course. Hope this helps.
A3) Yes, this unit will run on a 20# propane tank. Read Less
