which unit can work with

exixting 2pole 30amp line which unit would you select no two showers are run at same time
Asked by: dehatt
This mostly depends upon your incoming water temp (see the map in the product descriptions for an estimate). You will not be able to run this from the same power that you used for a tank water heater as it requires more power. If you run this 27KW unit it will require 3 2pole 50Amp breakers (6 power wires and 1 common ground).

will this give hot shower

have existing 30amp 2pole line is it capabale to carry load
Asked by: dehatt
Not nearly. You need Three (3) 50 amp double pole breakers. This takes up 6 spaces in your electrical panel. You have to have at least a 200 amp service panel.

While the unit may only cost a little over $400.00 installation is a complete nightmare. The "expert" installers wanted $3,300 to install the unit for me. The size of the breaker suggested in the manual wasn't enough, the unit is constantly tripping the breaker if you run the unit more that 10 minutes and then you get shower freeze. This is the worst product I have ever purchased from Home Depot and the electricians that are responsible for setting up these units are complete rip offs, it's highway robbery. If I had to do it all over again I would not purchase one of these units.

So far this unit works great, I have a 200 amp service and its plenty to run this unit on a smaller home such as a 1600 single family home. This product does require 3 double pole 50 amp breakers and the 8 gauge wire. With that said it calls for 150 amps dedicated, but the tech specs for it state it only draws a shade over 100 amps max. keep in mind this unit has 3 heating elements so thats 50 amps dedicated per breaker, per element. Overall this unit has worked great, i have not used it a lot yet since my house is a remodel job but its simple and straight forward to install. If you come from a mechanical background otherwise hire a pro to do it. Be sure to also buy the proper copper water heater stand offs per code or per your state code. I will state i know this unit is able to maintain steaming hot water with one shower and 2 sinks running full bore at least with my house. It can depend on your house, how the plumbing is ran how long of runs you have, if the piping is insulated, ect. I would say to the ones that buy this and complain about the electrical demands, you either should have researched the product better before hand or just sucked it up and pay a pro and have it installed because the savings are there and it will pay for its self in savings after a few years. as well as the extra space you save that will be used for something else. So don't knock a product because you failed to understand its requirements. Any tankless electric model will demand a high amount of power not as much as this unit but none the less will still be a high demand. otherwise you should research gas options if you have gas at your residents. You will still gain savings with a gas model when it comes to your gas bill as well as look into rebates from the gas company. Overall this has been great so far. But only time will tell how long it hold up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Item, love the fact that I use almost no electric when the unit is off The Water heater is great, install is a major pain in the neck, since you need to upgrade the electric to a much higher amount, but overall a good product and you get back a bunch of floor space when you replace your tank type water heater

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Marey Tankless I purchased the Marey tankless water heater at a great price as a daily promotion. The great price does not really matter because I could not install the unit and it was returned. The reason I am returning this unit is because the electrical demands on this is greater than the load possible for my home which is 200 AMP. Most homes are either 100 or 200 AMP. I consulted with several electricians and the majority said installing this unit will trip the main circuit breaker. Before you buy make sure your home can handle the amount of amperage required. The purchase was also not great. The vendor sent me the wrong shipment info and indicated the order was cancelled. I found the mistake of the wrong shipment info when I contacted Home Depot.
