CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good weatherstripping that will outlast the foam tape stuff. Excellent, heavy duty door weatherstripping built to last. The dark bronze color goes very well with dark brown door jambs. Easy to cut to size with tin snips. Screws that come with the set are decent quality and dont strip out when using a power drill. I ordered 3 more for our french doors and large windows. Installer Tip - Don't force too much contact with the door when you are screwing them in. Too much pressure will cause the door to align poorly and you will have a hard time locking it. Test for proper latching as you screw in the weatherstrip to save yourself the headache of redoing it later. November 8, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Latex Paint Problem The vinyl rubber bulb sticks to latex paint. Research shows this is chronic problem on all brands of weather strip. If your door is painted with oil base paint there's no problem. The 100% acrylic paints seems to be more resistant to sticking in my case. The product is actually nicely made, durable and attractive. The metal strip is u shaped where the u faces downwards, this allows it to fit over bumpy, uneven door jambs. The screw holes are oval shaped allowing adjustment later. I accidentally cut it when trying to peel off stuck paint with a sharp object. This stripping is over 10 years old and has slight softened over time. I compared current model with old and don't see any differences. There is another version with a urethane rubber bulb that doesn't stick to latex at twice the cost, I couldn't find locally October 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent weather strip product Here is an installation tip - line it up to the door exactly and dont try to force extra contact. The door won't close properly and you will be stuck redoing it like I was. Looks great on a brown door frame. November 6, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Improvement over previous door seals This was a replacement for a door seal which was made of harder material that would take a set after a few years and in cold weather. The silicon seal material in this seal set is much softer and does not remove any paint from the door as had the harder material had. The hardware, however, was of lower quality than my previous seal set. I reused the old hardware as it was harder and screwed into wood without maring the screw head. October 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weather stripping found on homedepot.com Good replacement for worn out strip. Installation trick is to find the proper level of snugness. September 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install Product was very easy to install. Anyone can do this with tin snips and a screwdriver. November 13, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by looks good but softens paint Do not use on week-old paint. Is it the plasticizers? After a couple days the weatherstripping was sticking and made the door hard to open. After a couple weeks the gooey soft paint was ripping off of the door along with an occasional sliver of wood. Elsewhere on the door the paint is fine. I am repainting and probably won't be using this weatherstrip. The painter suggested oiling it, the paint store suggested a layer of wax paper. I am looking for alternatives. September 17, 2013
