Answer:
Why is this safe over $200 more than the MSC1916E (electronic version) on homedepot when considering anywhere else this safe is sold, combination and electronic keypad are options for this safe with absolutely no difference in cost??
.... and so many discrepancies on which version you are actually buying from homedepot. See the page for MSC1916E- completely different safe it seems!

Answer:
MESA: keypad? 9-volt battery? This is the MSC1916C (combination) version of this safe... no keypad, no 9-volt battery. I think the question is better put, "is there an override method to opening this safe?" I don't think combination safes have override key features but I will let Mesa answer that one..

I bout this safe about a year now came with son imperfection on the outside, and the interior wasn't the same as the picture, but it was working fine and that was the main issue for me. On August/2016 I came back from my vacation and wasn't open. I change the battery and start working (open) Now about three months doesn't open again. I have been calling MESA but I get an answer machine leave message and I have not receive any call or answer yet. What should I do? I need help please.

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not as pictured A couple issues with the safe. The first one arrived damaged so I can't comment on that. The second one I received is slightly different from the pictures. It appears to be an older model maybe? Here were the differences: -No deadbar, instead 3 dead bolts to lock in the side with the hinges. Not sure which is better or safer to have? -No interior lining on the inside like you see in the pictures with carpet, mine was bare metal. -No red button as you see in the pictures that automatically locks the safe when it is closed. -And finally, the inside of the safe was damaged. Scraps exposing the metal in multiple spots on the inside door. I called Mesa & supposedly there sending me some touch up paint so hopefully that will take care of it before it starts to rust. All these defects makes me wonder if the "Lock protected by a drill resistant hard plate and a punch activated re-locking system" mentioned in the description for added security are actually in the safe from the one I received? I would of returned the safe if it didn't weigh close to 400 lbs & was a chore to get into it's place. Obviously no one was rushing to come pick of the safe to right the wrong that was done to me. So now I'm stuck with a safe that I feel I overpaid for. June 27, 2014
