IS THERE A SPECIAL TOOL NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEM ONLY IN THIS VALVE? I GOT THE PIN OUT BUT CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO REMOVE STEM

MOEN Rough-in Posi-Temp Pressure-Balancing Cycling Valve Model # 2520 Internet # 100000810
Asked by: BELINDA
A pair of vice grip pliers will do. Just make sure to hold the valve securely as not to cause damage to the piping. Steady, constant pulling pressure will work better than quick pulls.

No the 2520 just turns to the temp you want

This model state there are "NO STOPS". What are the "stops" being referred to? I thought the "stops" were to prevent the handle from being turned too hot? Am I wrong? I ask this because another reviewer stated they had to make adjustments on the valve to allow the water to have a hotter temperature. Isn't it the "stops" that do that? And that doesn't make sense to me if THIS MODEL 2520 states it does NOT have "stops". Thanks to any plumber that can help me!

Hello Maria and thank you for your interest in Moen products. The Moen Brass Rough-In Posi-Temp Pressure-Balancing Cycling Tub and Shower Valve - 1/2 in. CC Connection is not one of the Moen rough-in valves that comes with built-in water shut-offs or stops. The Moen Brass Rough-In Posi-Temp Pressure-Balancing Cycling Tub and Shower Valve with Stops - 1/2 in. CC Connection, model number 2570, is the comparable Moen valve with built-in water shut-off’s. The reason I give this valve 5 stars is due to many years of experience installing them for my customers. It's reliable, easy to use, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. If the cartridge fails, Moen will send you a completely new cartridge at no charge. How cool is that? This valve has exceeded my expectations. In fact, I just completed a product review regarding this shower valve here: http://www.legendaryhs.com/moen-positemp-shower-valve-review-licensed-plumber/

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product was easy to install. I'm used to written installation instructions, but it seems like more products are going to the wordless, picture installation method. Such was the case with this product. It took some time trying to figure out what the pictures were trying to explain, but once I figured out which installation method was appropriate it was a pretty simple installation. The only complaint is there is no indication as to the on/off position of the handle. After getting doused the first time I turned the water back on I quickly found out I had the handle in the full open position (of course!) and not the closed position. A nice picture of the proper handle position would have been nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solidly built, smooth operation This brass valve maintains temperature of water even when someone else in the house flushes the toilet. The instructions for installation are clear and there are videos available on U-Tube that can also be helpful. The one I bought has fittings for soldering brass piping to the ports. You can also get it with threaded fittings or barbed for direct connection with the modern PEX type piping. Ask your plumber which one would be best for you before you buy. My plumber used the copper piping to make a secure mounting before connecting the PEX pipes. Follow the instructions to flush the lines after installation to save the cartridge.
