This particular model has a defective valve body. When the water is turned on, the water comes through shower head instead of tub spout. After tearing my wall twice, the second time for a professional opinion by a professional plumber who confirmed I had installed it correctly, I contacted Moen to see if they could exchange for a different model or refund my money, which they refused. After numerous conversations with Moen, I finally decided to take it out and replace it with a different brand. I thought paying more for a quality product guaranteed for life would avoid issues, I was wrong. Moen, never again.

In Nov. 2012, I remodel the master bath completely. I took out the bathtub and did a shower using Moen Banburry. I called Moen to let them know the shower was leaking, and they told me sometime the fixtures are in the store for long time and dry. Moen sent me the cartridge 1222 for Positemp valve. However, the plumberâs estimate to change the cartridge was around $250-300.
Since then, I have a jar to collect the water from the leak, and the mopâs bucket when I am out on a short vacation. I would never thought the spout I left to fill the bucket to mop the laminate floor on the second floor will serve to collect water leak.
I am tired of this situation, but I think the estimate to change the cartridge is outrageous when I paid $1,200 to remodel the shower, and Banburry shower trim cost me around $150.
I will advise to get a cartridge from Moen and change it when installing the valve.

I have installed at least 10 of these valves in the course of remodeling bathrooms in the past year. They install very easy if you know what your doing. As with all pressure balance type valves the hot and cold water supply on each side of the valve have to be the correct size and pressure. The spot resist finish is a nice plus too! I have had several comments about how nice it is not to have temperature fluctuations while using the shower if someone turns on the water somewhere else in the house.
Most supply houses carry parts that they will exchange over the counter under Moen's Lifetime Warranty and it saves the hassle waiting for warranty parts to arrive in the mail. Same day repairs are an excellent benefit.

I purchased this product to replace a broken/worn out faucet. The installation was very easy. Product was installed in a house that has CPVC.

I'm writing this review in the hope that I can save fellow homeowners from the same nightmare that I have had. I will start with saying that mine is still not hooked up 100% so I cannot speak about any potential leaks, etc that other reviewers have mentioned. Some pieces of this set do seem well made (really just the handle itself), however, for the price and the brand I would expect more. Most of my displeasure stems from the directions, if you can call them that, that came with this product. We are toward the end of a bathroom remodel and purchased the Caldwell bathtub set. I had a plumber install the portion behind the wall, but since the tub was not completed yet and the tiling needed to be finished I am doing the rest of the install on my own. I tried to follow the instructions in the box which do not even appear to be for my product, to no avail. Not letting this bother me, I then went online to the Moen website and downloaded the full install guide to the product. I figured out the handle, no thanks to their directions, with trial and error as well as the shower head as I have installed many of those in the past. What truly should have been a 15 minute job has been 2 hours due to screw holes not aligning properly. Following the installation guidelines attached to my product on Moen's website I then cut the copper tube for the spout to 3 inches per the instructions. I now realize (after I've messed up my plumbing) that my spout is not unthreaded like the directions say is an option, and this is far too short for my product. I guess this is my fault for not reading the one place it states "threaded" on the side of box rather than following the poorly laid out instructions in the box as well as online. So now I guess I get to continue not having my shower back and go to Home Depot again to try and figure out how I can fix this and still use this fantastic product. If only I had read the reviews online before buying this product instead of trusting the name brand, I have a feeling I would not be in this mess.I also e-mailed the manufacturer, but they are closed for the night so we'll see if I hear back. Moral of the story - if you already know how to install this stuff, go for it. If you do not this is a potential nightmare to install... make sure you go with the directed for the THREADED spout.
