Is the valve provided in this kit a M-PACT valve? Meaning I can replace the trim in the future without changing the valve?

Asked by: DA
Hello DA and thank you for your interest in Moen products. The Moen Banbury 2-Handle Deck-Mount High Arc Roman Tub Faucet in Spot Resist Brushed Nickel comes with the rough-in valve which is a Moen M·Pact valve. Can this be used on an existing tub with existing roman faucet?

I have a tub that already has Moen Roman faucets installed but are in chrome. I'm looking to change all my chrome bathroom hardware with brushed nickel hardware and wondering if this can be used in existing tub installations. I have no access to the underside of my tub as it is a drop in tub that was framed in a tiled around when the house was built 4-1/2 years ago.
Asked by: Matt
It can be used BUT you will have to gain access to the valve inside the tiled area frist. This is NOT a DIY project and is very costly!!! I did a budget reno on our master bath (changed from chrome to brushed nickel) and the bathtub faucet change cost $800. I had a handful of quotes from plumbers AND my tub area was not yet tiled so access was easy for them. This is nothing like changing out a sink faucet. It is much more complicated!!!

I replaced this faucet about a month ago as part of a bathroom upgrade that included a couple of Banbury lavatory faucets and a shower set. The Jacuzzi Roman Tub unit was more of a challenge than the rest due to the need to solder the valve assembly under a whirlpool deck. Very little space and lots of plastic hoses to destroy with the propane torch. I used a large disposable aluminum baking pan to protect the fiberglass and plastic. It worked well. I also removed the plastic cartridges from the unit before soldering. Once soldered in, the install was not any more difficult than a lavatory faucet. I had to use a "Generic" drain assembly to get a brushed nickel finish on the rest of the whirlpool hardware. Overall, I am very pleased with the product and it has a much better flow rate than the old faucet. I tested the flow with a bucket and got about 12 gallons/minute with about a 35 to 40 PSI water pressure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent products The Moen product line is a great blend of form and function. What is really great is how easy these faucets (I've purchased three in the last year) are to install. Even better though is the customer service group. They will hang with you to the bitter end and get you replacement parts with little delay. I recommend Moen products highly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for cost...for life! My wife picked this product without me there however, I was so pleased with it when she brought it home and the lifetime warranty was a plus. The look is fantastic and the installation was quick and easy. I will be replacing all of our plumbing fixtures with Moen products. Thanks:)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a good choice to replace existing faucet The fixed manifold of this set makes it suitable only for new installations or those where the hole sizes and spacing are identical to the ones needed by this set. I returned the product to buy another that had much more flexible installation options.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the Look! I love the new faucet. We did an update of the masterbath and decided to switch from chrome finishes to satin nickel. There were not a lot of Roman/Garden Tub faucets available but this one was perfect. My only complaint does not lie with the faucet itself as it was a decent value but with the extreme cost to replace this on the bath. Because of the remodel, the tub area underneath was fully accessible but it still cost a small fortune to install because it needed a new and updated valve assembly. It came with the valve but the cost to remove the other and install the new one was very high!!! Price it before you make the change!!!! The plumber had to use a blow torch etc. If I had known the cost beforehand, I would have chosen to stick with the chrome!! I'm handy and have changed toilets, sink faucets, etc, but this was beyond my scope
