Answer:
I'm curious also, seems a waste of effort and money to remove a perfectly good workhorse valve that never fails for a new one that is an unknown, plus the additional expense involved. Reusing the existing valve needlessly restricts replacement choices.

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 137 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality Have used it for 3 years and all of a sudden something inside broke and water wouldn't turn off. Had to shut the water off to the entire house and call a plumber. Insides are plastic and broke off and wouldn't allow me to turn off water after use. Piece of garbage. Do not buy! July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect bathub/shower fixture We love this in our rustic bathroom at the lake. Oil rubbed bronze is a perfect touch too. It has always worked well & easily. We love it! May 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mediterranean Shower Fixtures These peices are a beautiful addition to my bathroom. Love the bronze. May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice looking and functional shower upgrade. Very attractive pieces when placed against the white tub that I selected. April 25, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK, for the price Bought this to replace a broken mixer valve that was not working(cannot get just the valve, but can order it and wait days to get without a shower). Installation was fine with a couple parts to change the threads and adjust the height to shower head and spout. Did not install the tub spout as I would have had to change the pipe to a threaded piece and the new one was very cheap looking given the price. December 17, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by well designed well packaged and easy instructions Fit well and simply designed with clean classic style, the shower head is low pressure "rain" style and doesn't have pressure variable valve. July 1, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed in plastic I bought this to match my Banbury sink faucets and towel rods. We have Banbury everywhere. I expected the tub spout, pipe flange and escutcheon to be metal, as are every other Banbury item we have purchased. We were disappointed that the very expensive shower items were plastic. I am not surprised that the shower head is plastic. Many of the best shower heads are plastic. I bought this as a replacement to a chrome Moen positemp fixture. I needed the Mediterranean Bronze to match the vanity. The shower head and valve trim kit looked nice when installed. The metal lever has heft, which is nice. But for this price, plastic seems like a bad value. I was replacing a slip on tub spout and this is threaded. Sweating the copper parts to turn my slip on connector to a threaded connector is non-trivial. A conversion kit would be nice (they are available from other manufacturers). Again, for this price, I would expect more flexibility. The killer, though, was that I did not need the valve. I do not want to tear out the wall to replumb a valve when I have a positemp valve that works fine. But the Banbury kit ONLY comes with a valve version. The Brantford style comes with or without the valve, but it is a different shade of oil-rubbed bronze and does not exactly match the Banbury Mediterranean Bronze. Since this represented such poor value, I returned it, even though the plastic escutcheon and pipe flange look nice and look metallic from a distance. I really did not like the plastic tub spout though. That is just not going to fool anyone. December 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 2 yr to failure I'm 2 years since install and the cartridge has gone out. It started a week before with the handle being difficult to close and then poof, it spun instead of closing leaving my water on. I was fortunate to have installed a couple of valves behind my washer or else it would have been no water to the house just to keep us from flooding. I'll have to remove tile and redo plumbing to make this work. I have yet to get a new part, though I'm sure Moen will honor the warranty. Still, even with the warranty, I'll be several hours over several days to get this fixed. Should I put this same part in? and risk having to tear apart my bathroom again in 2 years? July 26, 2016
