Hi had two of these installed by a licensed plumber for my newly built home. Both failed causing water to gush out behind the exterior siding in one and in the other flood my first floor. The plumber refused to back up his work, blaming me instead - accusing me of leaving the hose connected during a freeze. He admitted that each year he has to replace dozens of these as do all the plumbers in the area! What an endorsement. Its just as easy to remember to close the shutoff valve each winter as it is to remove a garden hose. Bottom line - these are not freeze-proof and the consequences of failure are serious

If you want to leave your hose attached to this faucet at the end of the season, it's necessary to allow the water to drain from the hose. Open up that spray nozzle at the end of the hose and let everything come out - otherwise, that water will freeze and back up into the faucet, destroying it.
It's a good idea to do this not only for the sake of the faucet, but for the hose as well.
I've had to replace one of this faucets at my house because I neglected to drain the water from my hose one winter! The other one has worked like a charm for the last 12 years.
