Customer Questions & Answers

does this model comes complite, (with its valve and everything) ? and does the pop up feets a standard basin?

Asked by: Anonymous
it was complete, but as it was a retrofit, my plumber did purchase some new hoses and a couple elbows for the pipes. As my sink/basin is standard, I would say yes the pop-up does fit (except as noted in my review the depth of the unit was a bit of a tight fit given the way my counter was cut. Hope this helps.

Does the drain that comes with this faucet fit a sink with no overflow?

Asked by: Gt142
It did fit mine but was kind of close. If your sink is not thick enough at the drain It might not work.

is this metal or plastic???

Asked by: ljp75
The faucet body in mine is brass. I have not looked at the internals to see how much plastic is in there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Darcy is a Good Buy Great faucet and water flow. I the only thing I didn't care for was the design of the popup drain and pipe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it, eventually! I bought this faucet because it looks chic. I ran into a couple problems mentioned in other reviews, but I was able to overcome them: 1. The angled lift rod. My sink did not have enough clearance to make the angle work, so I pounded the rod flat with a hammer. Problem solved. 2. The leaky drain stop. The first time I installed it, my stop leaked. At first I thought it was a defect with the part, but I gave it another go, and it works correctly now. I can only guess that the initial installation was at an angle that caused the stop not to sit flush in the assembly. After a little more elbow grease than expected, I'm completely satisfied with my purchase!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Need More Product Info I picked this item off the shelf. It looked good, but when the plumber came to install it he had a lot of trouble. The drain lift rod is offset at the back (because the rod is designed with a bend; not straight like I thought it would be) which you can't see from the store display or the picture on the box. When pulled up, it comes out at an angle away from the back of the base. Unfortunately, it hits the backsplash behind the faucet before it can be fully extended to pull the drain cover closed. No matter what the plumber tried he couldn't get it to work correctly. I called Moen, and the CS rep suggested my countertop might be drilled incorrectly (it is not). When I also suggested that the box the faucet comes in and the faucet specs should list a minimum clearance required for the angled lift rod, I was told the specs were on their website. I looked at them, and don't see this distance mentioned, or even a picture of the rod fully angled out backwards. As a consumer you are just unaware that this faucet's lift rod will extend backward like it does. If you have a countertop where room behind the faucet is not an issue, this design should be O.K.. I purchased another faucet with a straight lift rod, and returned this one. This seems to be a design that won't work for everyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would have been perfect...IF Faucet looks and operates perfectly, install was very easy EXCEPT for the DRAIN rod. Installed on American Classics Melborn 18 in. Vanity Top in Wheat Model # PPMELCHT18Y from Home Depot. Top of the rod has teardrop shape which does not fit well with this sink. Rod comes bent to meet actuator rod, but unfortunately I spent way too much time rebending the rod so that it cleared the faucet hole and sink's middle hole. Poor design on this one part. Not a showstopper, but a pain to adjust so that it'll operate correctly. Also, cannot set up with teardrop close to faucet (down position) as there isn't enough clearance between faucet and backsplash.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 1 of 3 faucets leaked from the start, fixed with putty My wife picked out these faucets to replace the old ones in our master bath and half bath. I have purchased the 8" and 2 4" Darcy faucets. One of the 4" faucets leaked between the waste line seat and the drain nut. After several attempts to loosen and tighten, then several attempts to plumbers tape and loosen and tighten I was not able to seal the waste line. Since I already had the other two faucets installed (which have not leaked once), I decided to take plumbers putty and create a putty O-ring between the the drain gasket and the drain nut. This sealed the gap between the waste line seat and drain nut. I am sure that the plastic pieces in the leaky faucet were not the same size as the other two. For that I have to give this 3 out of 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Looking Faucet This faucet is a great upgrade that really takes a bathroom from plain to modern without much effort or cost. Installation effort was pretty typical. It wasn't the easiest faucet I've ever installed, but it wasn't too bad. It took me about 45 minutes to install this faucet after I had uninstalled the old one. Keep in mind that you'll need plumber's putty, which wasn't super clear until you completely read the instructions. There are pictures of "suggested tools" on the outside of the box, but apparently I misinterpreted the tub of putty to be a bucket for catching water under the sink. I had a little bit of difficulty getting the stopper pull just right. Since the head of the pull is not symmetric, the angle at which it is mounted matters. I got it crooked twice before getting it to seat just right. The stopper is just a little bit wobbly as it sits in the sink drain. However, it raises and lowers without any snags. The operation is smooth, and the handles are pretty sturdy feeling during normal operation, although they do seem to flex downward a little more than they should when the ends of the levers are pushed down. The spot resist finish works better than most other brands of faucets I've used that claim to have the same type of capability. Plain water splashes don't leave any spots, and when toothpaste splatters eventually show up, it wipes clean easily enough. I've had it installed for a few weeks so far, with no problems with leaks. The only other complaint I have is that the water doesn't completely drain out of the sink anymore like it did with the previous drain I had installed. The reason is partly the design of my sink though. Just keep in mind that if your current faucet drain is greater than 2" in diameter, there's the possibility that this one will leave a ring of standing water around it that doesn't drain completely.
