Answer:
Yes I would recommend going on a stud because they will bear more weight and are much safer . It isnt worth a fall in a tub if they let go. Do it right and do it once. I hung mine vertically so I was able to use a stud and it gives you more choice in more space up and down.

Answer:
I would not trust any of these to toggle bolts. The main purpose is to help you lift your body up or down. Better off finding where the studs are and getting a bar of the proper length to fit the studs. They come in many lengths.

Should be mounted to the wall studs. The length is perfect for 16 on center studs for horizontal mounting.

I'm looking for a grab bar or bars to install in my mothers shower. the walls are tile. Will these screw into the tile & how would I go about doing it? Is it possible to use something like a lock tite construction adhesive to glue to the tile instead of screwing?

Answer:
I had the contractor drill thru the tile with a diamond bit on a stud. In my opinion that is the safest and we installed vertically so its on stud both ends. Its much safer than trusting a glue or adhesive in my opinion.

Answer:
I suggest finding the studs and drilling through the tile with special bits for tile. The worst thing that could happen is to fail when you really need it. There are many different lengths of bars so you should be able to find one that will work.

I had a workman install mine on a tile bathroom wall and it is secure. He said the screws went through the tile and well into the wall -- I guess into wood or whatever is behind the tile.
Maybe someone at the store can tell you how to do it.

Hi there and thank you for your question.
There is more than one way to install a grab bar on to the tile wall.
One way is to drill a pilot hole and fill with expandable anchors, see attached photo.
And another way is to use a something called butterfly anchors bolts or toggle bolts. These anchors are spring loaded and expand inside of the wall cavity, once expanded they are very difficult to pull out.

I wouldn't recommend using any kind of adhesive for this installation.
Hope this helps.

The length of this grab bar is listed as being 16 inches long. Where is that measurement taken? Is it from the outer most edges of the screw covers OR is it the area where the bar is STRAIGHT….the area between where the bar curves out from the wall?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Grab Bar Gorgeous and functional! Looks like it belongs in the shower, compliments the existing plumbing fixtures. Doesn't have that "hospital" grab bar look. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grab Rail This fits exactly between two studs. I mounted it on the side of tub about 4 inches over the tub. Second time I have installed this grab rail at two different houses. Wish it was sold in stores instead of just online. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfecr for what I need Bought a set of these and love the "grooved" areas where a person would grab. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best product for the price out of the box and on the wall in 30 min each for two. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by On Moen grab bar & shelf unit These absolutely look great. I have wall to ceiling subway tiles in shower so was afraid these wouldn't look good but was I wrong. The brushed nickel finish looks terrific with the tiles. March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to Install ! My husband really needed this assist product So, rather than wait for the handyman, I tried it myself. You need to own a stud finder and drill. Before you order, find the studs so you know what length to order. Then it's super simple. Be sure to keep the plastic covers on until your done so your tools don't scratch the finish. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Security in the shower. These bars are secure and easy to grip. Top quality as well. I had a handyman install them because you need a special tile drill bit. They have helped considerably when my wife showers. I highly recommend especially if you need additional bars to hold onto when in the shower. July 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to install, measured where you want it, use drill, took me about 20 min. arrive on time was easy to install, looks great with other fixtures. I need to 2 7ft rails like this for church May 20, 2015
