Customer Questions & Answers

How do you remove the Moen Eva towel ring from its wall attachment?

There's a small tab recessed in the bottom of the ring the wall attachment which snaps in place at installation. Is it pushed in, pulled out, lifted left or right? I've tried everything. The installers used a massive drywall anchor thru a wooden cabinet, and the bracket extends into the cabinet ,where a simple nut and bolt would work better and be less intrusive.

I had this problem with a different towel ring. From my experience, I recommend the 2015 answer from Mario of Thousand Oaks. Some details of my experience are in the following email from Moen and my reply. From Moen 28 June 2017: We received your recent email regarding your Icon towel ring. Below is a screen shot of the installation video. The black locking tab will be at the 6 o’clock position. Using a small flat head screw driver, push UP into the hole. The locking tab will push up and while pushing up, gently pull off the finished chrome part. My reply to Moen 15 July 2017: Thank you for the screen shot of the Pro-Fit black mounting post and the instructions on how to remove my mounted towel ring (model YB5886). While pulling the ring away from the wall, I kept pushing a flat screwdriver up through the bottom hole in the ring and against the locking tab on the mounting post. The ring didn’t come off. I then took a hooked pick (90-degree bend about 1 cm from the tip) and pushed and pulled the tab in all sorts of ways while pulling outward on the ring. In a little while the ring surprisingly popped off. Looking at the mechanism I see that the tab on the mounting post catches onto a ridge in the ring. Your described procedure should work. Some time later I investigated to see what works. I held the ring (at the neck) in a vice and attached the mounting post to the ring. With one hand I pushed a flat screwdriver against the locking tab. The other hand held the (compressed) metal anchor that is attached to the plastic post. Pushing the tab while gently pulling the mounting post away from the ring did not work. I then held the anchor with some vice grips and pulled harder. A good straight and firm pull did work. If, in the future I have some difficulty in removing a Pro-Fit product from a wall, I will try using both hands to give a good controlled, straight (perpendicular to the wall), firm pull on the product while someone else is pushing the tab. With practice the other person should not be needed.

How do I keep the base from rotating?

I'm trying to attach the Eva towel ring into the wood side of a cabinet. The black plastic mounting post has a single centered screw to attach it (it comes with a wall anchor which won't work in the cabinet); when I attach it with a bolt and nut, the entire base rotates when I hang a towel on the ring, or put any pressure on it at all. It won't take long for the bolt to unscrew itself from the nut. There are two additional holes in the post but they are smaller than the 8/32 bolt size of the center hole, and it looks like a bolt head would interfere with the attachment of the towel ring. How can I attach the base so it's solid to the cabinet and won't rotate?

Screw the molly bolt tight to the wall and the base will not move.

How do I get the towel bar off the wall (i.e., how does the system "unsnap" from the mount) without creating a large hole?

I've watched the video but did not see how to tighten the mounts as they will loosen with time....

There's a little plastic piece on the bottom--insert a flat screwdriver tip and it the decorative piece will pop off. However, you'll have a pretty big hole because of the wall anchor.

Can I get this with a 50" or longer bar?

I want to use simple towel bars along a flat walk in our narrow walk-in closet, for hanging pants, scarves, etc. . Can this or any other towel bar come with a much longer bar -- e.g. 50" to 70"?
Asked by: Anonymous
Only 18" & 24" lengths of this "Eva" collection towel bars are listed on the Moen & Home Depot websites. Apparently, this particular towel bar does not come in a longer length, but there are some longer (30" 36" & 48") towel bars made by other manufacturers. There are a few 48" towel bars on eBay.

We bought a number of these to match towel bars and faucets that were already in the house we bought, so we might not have picked them otherwise. However, the style is very nice and works with modern or transitional decor, and the quality is as high as we have come to expect from Moen. We like that the bar is not round, so small towels stay in place on it. The installation method is a bit unusual but seems more secure than the method we've used over the past 35 years. We had minor problems with a couple of the supplied wall anchors, (out of 15 to 20) but were able to improvise with parts we had left from another project. The price was competitive and overall we are quite happy with them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pulls out of the wall I bought three of these to go into two bathrooms. Based on the performance of the one we put in our powder room I took the other two back instead of having my hubby install them. My handy hubby says he did the best securing it. Maybe my kids tug on the towel too much? We bought two Delta towel rings for our master bathroom & they are more secure.

It is good quality and complements our other Eva series toilet paper holder, hand towel holder, robe hook and even the toilet lever. I just wish I knew there was even an Eva light fixture, but it still looks nice with the one we bought.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Eva accessories The towel bar, hooks, toilet paper holder and tower ring are not quite the same as the matching faucet. I chose the faucet at the store and ordered the rest on line. I wasn't entirely satisfied but chose to keep everything.
