We have had the Extensa model on our kitchen sink for about 10 years. Lately when we swivel the faucet from side to side it has like a grinding stuck feel to it. Like something crumbly is interfering with its ability to swivel at the base. It was installed in a granite countertop. Any ideas on what is going on?

Leak fix

This question is from Extensa Single-Handle Pull-Out Sprayer Kitchen Faucet with Hydrolock Installation in Ivory

We have a Moen A112.18.1M kitchen faucet that is leaking at the point where the metal tip of of the hose attaches to the pull out handle. The place where it attaches (and leaks) is in the section that houses the aerator and screws onto the handle itself. There is a lot of play at this hose attachment point and if you push the hose toward the aerator end it does not leak. When you pull the handle forward however it does leak at this point. I don't know if the metal spherical end of the hose is itself the issue or if the white plastic insert/gasket that the hose inserts into is the issue. Can this section, that is threaded and contains the aerator and threads onto the handle, be replaced? If so, what is the part number? Thanks much

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 110 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great design with nice features. Easy to use. Faucet head is long enough for sinks with two separate size. Two useful functions. Faucet is easy to pull out and retract. Water flow is just right. Switching water mode is simply done by pressing down a button. Very happy with this faucet. Love the design. December 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by good with one exception The hose is very stiff & difficult to maneuver. Otherwise, it's excellent. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality Replacement The assembly was complete with all items necessary for installation. The installation took approximately 1 hour including removal of the old Moen faucet. There are some improvements in this product which are obvious from the old product removed and includes a life time warranty. July 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by glad to be able to find this to replace one we have the faucet was one to replace the one we had. and it works well June 16, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product, not worth the extra money This product installs very easily. it's a "good" product, but not a great one. I used this MOEN faucet to replace an older model. This newer model is much more plastic than the previous, which was heavier and made from metal. I'll be interested in the longevity of this faucet. It works fine and looks nice, now. For another comparison, I installed another lower-angled MOEN faucet, that didn't meet our expectations, (the angle was too low). I returned and and purchased this model. The first one cost $125. This one was well over $350, and it didn't see any difference, except for the angle. As I said, I'm curious how this faucet will hold up. May 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Leaks like a sieve. A couple people told me that manufacturers make versions specially for the big stores. They said the ones companies sell to plumbing supply companies are different i.e. better. I passed that off as one of those urban legend things but now I am not so sure. I bought two of these from Home Depot. They both leaked like crazy immediately after installing them. After spending a lot of time on the phone with Moen, they sent me another one. That one worked like a charm. My previous faucet was a Moen so I know how they go together. The two from Home Depot were both leaking at the mixing chamber inside the main housing. I was able to return one but the other I had thrown away all the packaging thinking what could possibly go wrong? Because neither of the two I bought from HD worked I don't see how I can give anything other than a one. May 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Two out of Three Leaked Given that this is a very expensive faucet I was truly disappointed. I bought one from HD. It leaked like a sieve...not a slow leak. I bought a second. Same problem. So I got on the phone with Moen and they sent me #3. That one worked. They appear to be leaking from the internal plastic valve assembly. I believe it's leaking from the hand sprayer hose where it connects to an internal mixing tank. It's not something that can be taken apart and fixed. I sense is it's a manufacturing defect. The fact that they switched to a cheaper from the old copper feed lines may have something to do with it. There's also less pressure from the faucet...probably due to a flow restricter in the line. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap product that looks good I purchased the Extensa in 2001 and 15 years later was glad I could replace the faucet with the same thing. Well, it wasn't the same quality. The sprayer is plastic, the faucet will not turn all the way left or right and the water is so slow I could knit a sweater while a pot is filling. I'm very disappointed with the flimsy quality of the Moen faucet. I paid $346.00 plus the cost to have a plumber install it. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk. May 17, 2016
