Answer:
I have a fiberglass tub/shower combination and the suction balance bar holds very well for several weeks before suddenly losing its grip. Luckily, in my experience to date only one end at a time loses suction so it does not fall into the tub thus averting possible damage to the fiberglass tub bottom.

Answer:
It should suction just fine on a glass shower door, however I would not think that to be a wise idea.
You could pull the door off track and break it if it fell. And most likely the shower door will not be substantial enough to support the weight and force applied to it when used for assistance.

I've heard that once this is installed, it cannot be attached a second time (if you're unhappy with placement). is this the case?

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 145 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bought these for an elderly person, bought some for us!!!! We bought these for an elderly relative that needed them, and they were so good, we bought some for ourselves for us, and our kids bathrooms. Why do we need them? Everyone gets disoriented in the shower for some reason, at some point. Having something to grab onto to balance yourself, is really a great thing. One caveat with these, like all suction cups, they do come loose over time. You will have to check them from time to time, and make sure they are still stuck up properly - you don't want to find out when you need them and they fall off. It has happened to us, so it is possible to have happen. You can proactively move them off and back on, to be sure they are on there properly.....I do this once a month or so. October 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product The only possible downside is that the product must be precisely positioned across the tiles in order for the suction cups to fit. This is possibly due to the fact that my 4 in tiles are actually 4.25 in. October 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not stay on the wall Does not stay on the wall. Holds for only a few minutes then releases and falls on the ground. Tried on multiple surfaces. October 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shower safety Applies easily and can be repositioned if needed. No hassles. September 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Finally, a product that does (exceeds) what it's designed to do I've waited a month to write this review. This product works and works well and far exceeded my expectations. My walk in shower has cast marble panels meaning there are no grout lines to contend with that you would have with tile walls. It sticks like glue and is rock solid. Much better than drilling a hole in the shower wall to mount a safety handle. Be aware that it will not hold on tile walls if the suction head spans across a grout line. If you have a tile surface, make sure you do not have it resting on a grout line. MEASURE ! July 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install. A nice looking product. Easy to install and stays in place. August 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The right one. It is the right one for my Mother to get in/out of shower August 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works well but not reliable as a permanent safety bar in the home. The grip installed easily and the directions are clear that the grip needs to be tested before actual use. This device is not sufficiently robust as a permanent solution for most people. The grip does move after a few days being in place. It is OK for a temporary support system, i.e. if you have a guest that needs a little additional help. August 2, 2016
