IS THERE A SPECIAL TOOL NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEM ONLY IN THIS VALVE? I GOT THE PIN OUT BUT CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO REMOVE STEM

MOEN Rough-in Posi-Temp Pressure-Balancing Cycling Valve Model # 2520 Internet # 100000810

A pair of vice grip pliers will do. Just make sure to hold the valve securely as not to cause damage to the piping. Steady, constant pulling pressure will work better than quick pulls.

Our Moehn tub is only emitting a trickle of hot water. We think there's a mineral build up preventing the normal flow of hot water. Help!

Asked by: Puzzled
Shut off the water and pull the cartridge out. Lots of videos and guides to show you how. Then have someone turn on the water for a couple seconds while you watch in the bathroom. If water sprays out of the empty valve body then your cartridge is either bad or installed upside down. If water does not spray out then you have a big plumbing problem somewhere.

Is this the right valve for adding additonal shower heads?

Asked by: RoyT44
Additional shower heads are a tricky situation due to water flow regulations. A single head off the shelf is usually rated for 2-2.5 gallons per minute (GPM). A multi-head system straight from a manufacturer isn't supposed to have the ability to exceed that on any setting. The shower valve itself it usually able to provide 4-7 GPM, but only for the tub outlet (bottom of the valve). The shower outlet (top of the valve) is usually restricted to limit flow. If you don't install a tub and instead run the shower head(s) off the tub outlet you can get more flow, but would probably be exceeding regulations. Look into adding the Moen Transfer Valve Model # 3372. That will allow you to swap between two shower heads without exceeding limits.

The reason I give this valve 5 stars is due to many years of experience installing them for my customers. It's reliable, easy to use, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. If the cartridge fails, Moen will send you a completely new cartridge at no charge. How cool is that? This valve has exceeded my expectations. In fact, I just completed a product review regarding this shower valve here: http://www.legendaryhs.com/moen-positemp-shower-valve-review-licensed-plumber/

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Spottyfinishnogood We have this in oil rubbed bronze in our other BR and love the function so ordered another in brushed nickel - it is NOT spot-resist and it looks awful with just a wipe-down after a shower. Still debating returning it....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product was easy to install. I'm used to written installation instructions, but it seems like more products are going to the wordless, picture installation method. Such was the case with this product. It took some time trying to figure out what the pictures were trying to explain, but once I figured out which installation method was appropriate it was a pretty simple installation. The only complaint is there is no indication as to the on/off position of the handle. After getting doused the first time I turned the water back on I quickly found out I had the handle in the full open position (of course!) and not the closed position. A nice picture of the proper handle position would have been nice.
