Search your kit's number on line. They come with or without the valve. Included, you will find the number valve you need. My kit had 4 matching valves to chose from. This one has to be soldered into place. Some appear to be screw in; if you are already set up for screw in valve, no plumber needed? I hired a plumber for this solder one.

When turning the stem on the valve it will turn continuously without stopping on hot or cold like other valves do. Am I missing something?

Answer:
You are missing the "limit stop". It's a white plastic piece that goes inside the valve. View the photo to see what part I'm referring to.

this will be the third time I have replaced the cartridges and balancing spools in my Moen posi-temp valve. The first time, the shower had not been used regularly, but the last two times in a year shower is used all the time. Do you think I need to replace the entire valve? I would need to cut my tile open, and would be very costly. But, 4 plumbers later, its still costly. Please help!

The reason I give this valve 5 stars is due to many years of experience installing them for my customers. It's reliable, easy to use, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. If the cartridge fails, Moen will send you a completely new cartridge at no charge. How cool is that? This valve has exceeded my expectations. In fact, I just completed a product review regarding this shower valve here: http://www.legendaryhs.com/moen-positemp-shower-valve-review-licensed-plumber/

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shower valve Converting from traditional 2 handles to a valve at standing height. The Temp. needed to be adjusted warmer. Easy adjustment. Solid feel when turning the valve handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits in thicker walls as well as well as thin. Comes with an adapter for thicker walls, which the plumber would have found helpful if he'd noticed. Perfect fit for the Moen faucet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Threaded This might have worked well but it wasn't threaded, so it couldn't be installed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product was easy to install. I'm used to written installation instructions, but it seems like more products are going to the wordless, picture installation method. Such was the case with this product. It took some time trying to figure out what the pictures were trying to explain, but once I figured out which installation method was appropriate it was a pretty simple installation. The only complaint is there is no indication as to the on/off position of the handle. After getting doused the first time I turned the water back on I quickly found out I had the handle in the full open position (of course!) and not the closed position. A nice picture of the proper handle position would have been nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solidly built, smooth operation This brass valve maintains temperature of water even when someone else in the house flushes the toilet. The instructions for installation are clear and there are videos available on U-Tube that can also be helpful. The one I bought has fittings for soldering brass piping to the ports. You can also get it with threaded fittings or barbed for direct connection with the modern PEX type piping. Ask your plumber which one would be best for you before you buy. My plumber used the copper piping to make a secure mounting before connecting the PEX pipes. Follow the instructions to flush the lines after installation to save the cartridge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shower valve installation Moen The valve was easy to prepare and rough in. We used a combination of copper and PEX to finish the installation. The whole job took about an hour and we were ready to install the hardboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive, but works well. Product arrived just as described, valve body and cartridge only. Not sure what trim package we want yet, but this will take almost any from Moen. Moen is kind of expensive, but I don't ever want to open the wall again. Install was simple enough. Take the valve guts out before applying heat to prevent damage. I only need shower so I plugged the shower outlet and ran the shower off the tub outlet for more flow. Hot or Cold can come in from either left or right!!!!! You just flip the cartridge 180. They don’t tell you that anywhere.
