Customer Reviews

Rothbury 2-Handle Moentrol Transfer Valve Trim Kit in Chrome (Valve Not Included) is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great if installed correctly I see others had problems with the handles sticking out too far. I did not have a problem at all. My contractor just measured everything, taking into account the added tile board, grout and tile, before installing the valve. Works great with my rainfall shower. My only complaint is how expensive the Rothbury line is compared to the others in the Moen line. If i wanted to get the matching faucet, it would have been almost $500!! I went with the Banbury faucet instead because it was 1/4 the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Okay product For Moen, product feels chintzy as most of it is plastic with a chrome colored finish. For what we paid a contractor for the Spa package (which includes TS4211, S6335, AT2199, A725, 3667EP , 3330, 10154, S6335,) I expected a better made unit! Initial install was incorrect; handle was loose and plumber said that was the way it was supposed to be (oh, really!!), and then after the new shower caulk had cured, we tried the valve and no water came out. Then I read that you have to pull out the valve stem to start the water; I thought that meant to pull out just the handle so that didn't work. Had to have another plumber from the contractor's company come by. This is what he had to do: Shave off the white stopper and tighten the bonnet screw afterward. Then had to tighten the handle with a hex wrench (wrench provided with unit didn't even fit - not sure what that hex wrench fits on the unit) but plumber had one to fit and tighten. Then he showed me that you have to pull out the stem entirely to get the water to flow. At least when he shaved off the white stopper it brought the handle and collar a bit closer to the plate. It does not sit close to the plate, is about 1/2 inch away. Looked awful when first installed, but is closer now with the rework. Wow, should not be this difficult. Would have to reconsider Moen in the future. Looks nice and has a nice stream both from the stationery head and the wand head and nice that there are different levels on the bar to place the hand held.

Like others have said, the handle sticks out way further than is pictured. I bought this to replace a seized Moen Viletta model, which fit perfectly by the way (wish I could find one stuck on a shelf somewhere). All indications from Moen were this model uses the same valve as my previous model. It does, but apparently the install specs for the valve are no longer the same (and there is no way I am ripping out my tile wall to move to relocate the valve). Bottom line, it looks horrible with the handle sticking out so far. Glad I didn't spend a lot on it. I did fashion a spacer out of plastic cutting board that brings the faceplate out from the tile to take up some of the space on the handle. The handle looks better but it doesn't look good overall.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Moen TS4211 Valve Trim Kit This product has a horrible look once installed, The control handles project out from the trim 1.5 inches. Both my plumber and MOEN stated that that is "normal" BUT none of the literature or displays show this problem. I would never have purchased this product had I been aware of what it would actually look like once installed. I will look for other manufacturers in the future. Moen has disappointed me as a customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from rothbury TSS4211 A nice quality product from Moen. Although the lower handle does not fit as close to the escutcheon as I would like, or as it appears in their promo pictures. I think if the valve was mounted further in the wall as opposed to the suggested depth, this would help with this concern. Also it would be nice if Moen's valve castings had a flat surface or tabs in which to mount the valve. The casting is odd shaped and difficult to mount.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Design When I saw this product in the store, the handles were flush against the base plate. When it was installed the handles were about an inch from the base plate showing the unfinished sleeve between the the base plate and the handle. I wish I had read the reviews of the previous person, I would have never bought it. If Moen had meant for it to look like that they would have put a polished finish on the sleeves. They could have easily remedied the problem by making the skirt bigger on the handle. Cosmetically it just looks lousy in my brand new bathroom. I would have expected better from Moen. No need for pictures, the previous reviewer said it all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing shower valve! I love this shower valve best thing in my bathroom. It work way better than expected. It has amazing water pressure out of both heads at the same time, that was a huge concern. i did run 3/4 in pipe all the way up to it, not sure if it matters but i love the out come. the look is amazing, not sure what the other reviewer was looking at but i would not believe a word of it. i rave about this and have had it for 2 years. i couldn't imagine taking a shower without this system, i never have a cold side the temperature is always set right where i like it and it even automatically adjust the temperature for you as the hot water runs out. Its the most budget friendly option as well. hope this helps disregard the other review. trust me you will be happy you did. not to mention it looks great. good luck

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big improvement in the master shower... My plumber had no problem installing the new valve trim kit and removing the old discolored one. Made a great appearance improvement in the master shower.
