Hello Nancy and thank you so much for your interest in Moen products. The MOEN Rothbury Single Hole 1-Handle Low-Arc Bathroom Faucet in Brushed Nickel comes with a spring loaded, push button drain assembly. This type of drain assembly is not connected to a lift rod; it is activated by pressing down on the drain plug. Customer Reviews

Rothbury Single Hole 1-Handle Low-Arc Bathroom Lavatory Faucet in Chrome is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ridiculous drain mechanism The faucet looks great but the drain design is, in my opinion, very poor. It is a spring-action drain mechanism. That means to close the drain, you push the stopper down with your finger in the sink bowl. To release water from the bowl, you have to put your hand into the full bowl and push the stopper again. It springs open. Who wants to put their hand into a dirty bowl of water to open the drain? I returned this product and purchased a different model with a traditional push/pull handle to open and close the drain. Home Depot was gracious about the return.
