Over the past 30 years, I’ve retrofitted many faucets with Moen and choose them for new construction. The faucets are durable and are easy to service.
I bought a couple of 1225 cartridges to fix my occasionally leaking showers that use the 3520 Moentrol valve.
Replacement went smoothly except the removal tool had a plastic shoulder that kept it from seating onto the 3520 valve body. Using a utility knife, I modified the tool and the removal/reinstall went quickly after that.
Although not absolutely necessary, I apply some silicone valve grease to the cartridge before installing it. Makes for smoother installation and operation.

The replacement part was exactly same as old part. Good quality Moen part. Very easy to install and came with plastic part to take out old one. Installation instructions could be better, but thanks to You Tube I found the video on installing.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DMenk Faucet was Faulty so Cartirdge was a Waste of Money
I hadn't known inn 2006 that Moen Faucets, from Home Depot, skimped on quality by having plastic pieces. So when the faucet started leaking I thought it was the cartridge. Turns out it was just a cheap faucet, so the cartridge was a waste.

I have MOEN brand faucets in the kitchen and two bathrooms. The kitchen sink faucet and two in one bathroom will be 50 years old next year. I have replaced the cartridges in the bathroom sinks once and the kitchen three times in all those years. The newish shower valve in the bathroom is about 15 years old (it used to be non-MOEN) and still works perfectly.
The other bathroom was remodeled (sink and shower) 20 years ago and I changed the sink faucet cartridge for the first time a few months ago. The shower still works fine.
It takes about 15 minutes to change the cartridge. The cartridge is the same for all the faucets and shower valves so I only need to have one on hand at a time. For $20 per changeout it's a bargain.

This part was a perfect match to the that failed. Installation was easy though the instructions took a bit of interpretation. Faucet works like new
