Customer Questions & Answers

bead of silicone under lip?

Do I place a bead of silicone beneath the lip of the drain before putting the drain into the sink. the sink is made of composite.
Asked by: lucy
Putty can be used with a stainless Steel sink as one of the persons answered below but as there is new practice of using silicone as putty can often be too thick for modern stainless sinks. I have done it both ways and prefer putty too being an old school plumber but again it depends on the sink. I would also let the silicone cure 24 hours before full use. Testing with water should be ok The new sinks are such that some strainer baskets have two rubber seals. One above and one below and nonsilicoje or putty should be used with those as you can actually create unevenness and a leak. In this case though silicone is good very thin putty is good.

Does the color match the Insinkerator garbage disposal?

Asked by: Kiwi
The question is not practical. The reason is that the insinkerator comes with its own flange that mounts in place of a strainer like this. You use one or the other not both so the question about matching is not answerable as you would take this out and put in the insinkerator one included with every disposal unit

Hello Paula. Thank you so much for your interest in Moen products. The sink drain is designed to fit most sinks. Although this looks really nice in the new sink we bought, I don't like the way it is designed to hold water in the sink. It is hard to get it in just right and then sometimes something will snag on it and pull it right out so that the water drains before you are ready. I haven't had it very long so maybe I will get better at using it, but the one I had before was much easier to use and lock into place.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product does not match picture Pictures show brass nut and stem. That's why you pay 2.00 more over the stainless steel one from the same website and from the same manufacturer. The video and subsequent pictures show a stainless steel version. Someone who put together the product description didn't understand the difference

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Easy to install, fits well. The stopper works but appears to be a bit loose when inserted - debris can collect around it rather than in it but this is just a minor issue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Moen sink drain this sink drain is fine but it says Made in Taiwan on it, not so fond of that with Moen being a good name in kitchen products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good sink strainer I liked this product. The fact that it was stainless steel. I thought I would get another rust product, but I was surprised.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Completely unhappy I am completely unhappy with the strainer basket on this drain. It will stop up the water alright, but when you pull the plug to let the water out it is up above the drain and allows all the "strainings" to go down the drain, not catching anything! Why have the basket??
