It falls off because of this funny thing called "gravity." The O-ring does not remain inside the groove that Moen has underneath the faucet assembly. So I dabbed just a tiny bit of plumbers putty on each side of the O-ring groove, and pushed the O-ring into that putty and fit the O-ring nicely within the groove. Then it stays there while you tip the assembly over and place the whole thing on your sink deck. Easy. Read Less

If you mean putty under the faucet base then you shouldn't need it unless your counter or sink is not flat or level. If you're referring to plumber "dope" that you put on the pipe connection threads then no, you don't need dope or teflon tape on the connections.

Plumber's putty was not called for in the installation. There is an O ring for the faucet, where it joins the counter top, and also one for the deck plate, if you are using it.
But it does not hurt to use a little bit of plumber's putty to be on the safe side.

Installed on 31.DEC.2013.
Worked perfect for awhile.
Then the flow of hot water gradually became less and less.
Now there is NO hot water flow whatsoever.
No issues with the cold water side.
Also, no issues with the flow of hot water to the dishwasher which is fed from a tee in the same hot water supply line as the faucet.

Could be that a part of a washer in the cutoff valve broke loose and has clogged the hot water line. Are your cutoff valves old? You might try disconnecting the hot water line and inspecting the valve. Though the damage may have been done already. Beyond that you might try removing the faucet and trying to clear the water lines. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

My main concern is that you do not have a dedicated hot water connection to dishwasher or kitchen faucet. Usually, both have separate connections, and not a T connection. Dish washer uses only hot water. Did you have a problem with the old fixture? If so, you may have plumbing issue. If you did not have any problem with the old one,
I have a few questions/suggestions.
1. When do you actually have the problem? Is it when the dishwasher and the faucet running at the same time? If so, it is the T connector issue. Both should not be connected to same line.
2. Check to see if the hot water valve is fully open.
3. Check to see if the hot water line is connected to cold water valve, and cold to hot. If wrongly connected, swap the lines. If the lines were connected correct, turn OFF the cold water line.
4. Now, turn the faucet on. After few seconds check the water . Is it cold?
You should not get cold water.
5. If it is hot, you may have a water mixing problem in the faucet: please call Moen customer service.

It refills from the top. Only trouble is it is hard to tell when it is full and when it is too full (i.e. you put the top on and it spills out all over), so we buy the same size bottle of Dawn, and when it runs out we know how much of the bottle to put in.

If it can't be pulled back out, it's likely attached correctly. You may need to wiggle it a little bit when pushing it in fully to hear or feel the click. There is a black button you can push and hold "in" to remove the hose and try again. It's on the side of the white plastic piece that the hose clicks into.

If you did not hear the click, it has not gone all the way in. Push more and will definitely hear the loud click.
The insertion is like 2 stages. First it will go in half the way, and you will feel like it is in. Push more, and you will hear the click when it is all the way in.
You can disconnect it by pushing the black button on the side of the quick connect, and try re-connecting it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great faucet - easy install - one tip Replaced a Water Ridge faucet from Costco that lasted only 20 months. This new Moen is taller than the Water Ridge which is nicer for filling up pots for spaghetti or whatever. The 120 degree swing left to right is more than enough, and the hose is plenty long enough to cover every corner of our sink. Decent flow on both stream and spray setting. Almost bought a cheaper Delta faucet but buyer beware - too many folks complained about its quality and that the handle had to be perfectly centered to turn the water off. This Moen's handle doesn't care where it is - it'll turn off on the left (hot), it'll turn off in the middle, and, you guessed it, it'll turn off on the right (cold), too! Generally easy installation with one tip to help you out. The Moen instructions tell you to put the black rubber O-ring on the bottom of the faucet assembly before putting that assembly's hoses through the sink hole and placing the whole assembly on the sink deck (or cover plate if you choose to use it - I did not). The trouble with that is the O-ring promptly falls off when you tip the assembly over to place it on the sink due to that funny thing called "gravity." So how to keep the very thin O-ring in place until you get the faucet assembly in place? Well I used just two dabs of plumber's putty on each side of the O-ring - just take a tiny amount of putty and use your finger to squish some in the O-ring groove on each side, then push the O-ring into the groove and the two puttied areas. Easy. Plumber's putty comes in small cans in Home Depot, too. October 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BEAUTIFUL MOEN FAUCET Installation was the easiest I have done, and I've done many. I highly recommend reinforcing under the sink where the center bolt tights up on that C clamp. Notch out a piece of wood and tightly attach faucet body so that it sits atop the sink edge and is as sturdy as ladder rung to pull yourself up onto the counter if you want to. I haven't done it myself yet but it's obvious it needs ta be much more sturdy. Instead, on the backside overtop of the gasket material overlapping,it glazed on a thick layer of some clear expoxy stuff, drys in 5 minutes.I laid it on heavy and used glazing tool. *LOCTITE "60 sec Universal Glue" ,0.6 Oz, big tube, "Extra Strong & Repositionable". Hoping that will stiffin it up in the back side. I will glaze it tomorrow with high quality million dollar Silicone MAX by DAP. Should last a grand old time with some maintenance checked here & there. September 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful and easy to install We purchased this to replace a builder grade chrome faucet that had no sprayer of any kind. This faucet is beautiful. Simple but looks very nice. We have a stainless steel sink and this looks perfect with it, so much better than the chrome one that was there. This works very well, great water pressure and spray. This faucet also has a nice arch to it but not too high. Has a nice sturdy feel to it. Of course like almost every spray faucet combo the sprayer is plastic but with this you would never know as it matches the metal perfect. The was one of the easiest faucets that we have ever replaced. They give you step by step instruction but you can also watch a video. They even give you the tool to tighten up the nut. We have a window with a low window sill so needed to find a faucet that would not have a problem and this was perfect. I would highly recommend this not only for beauty and function but also ease of install. August 14, 2016

There's a toggle under the faucet that switches the flow to a shower and back. The most convenient faucet I've ever used. Excellent quality. I wish I could convert all my faucets in the house. Love it. August 16, 2016
